Ivy crawls up brightened walls,
Shadows strike my heart
I close my eyes and shoo it away,
Hoping for a restartThat hope soon turns false,
And I end up facing truth
I curl up and sob awhile,
Hoping it'll be over soonHope
The only thing I have left
But as time speeds up and things get worse,
I see no way out of this messBut all the while, I cling to hope,
No matter how pointless it seems
For if I give up on all I have left,
Than I awake in a Darkened dreamTime speeds up, things get worse,
My hope slowly diminishes
Stress over takes me, a Darkened dream blooming,
For I know how this story finishesDying days, thickened ivy,
But there's always that one strand of hope
And although it isn't much at this point,
It's at least an ounce of hopeDying days passed, hysteria strikes,
Reality took my last strand
Hysteria takes me over as I wish I had done better,
But at least I was with you till your last stand❤️Author's Note❤️- This poem was inspired by Markiplier's playthrough of The Dragon, Cancer, which was responsible for a lot of imagery and metaphors in this poem. Yes, I know that's an old playthrough, but it's a beautiful game with an important story, one I think people should here. Although this poem was inspired by that game I did not copy everything from that game. I actually based this off of my own encounters with cancer in my family, and what it feels like at the end of the road. If you've seen that let's play or played the game yourself, you'll know what imagery and metaphors I took from it. If any of you have family members, friends, or you yourself are going through cancer, I wish you the best of luck. The stress can be immense, and it hurts so much when no one says that they care. Just know that we're here for you. If anyone wants to talk to me, feel free to pm me. I'll respond right away.
