Synopsis:

Hotaru Tachibana has a strong sense of justice and just cannot help confronting those who choose to perform malicious acts. Furthermore, Hotaru is actually a girl who likes to disguise herself as a boy. After hearing rumors that her best friend was tricked by the popular host of a local club, Hotaru seeks to punish the evildoer. Upon arriving at the club, however, she is challenged to a so-called "survival game" by the host Masamune Matsuoka, where the first person hit by the bullet of a toy gun will lose.

After a destructive fight which results in Hotaru's loss, Masamune forces the young "boy" to join his survival game team named Toy Gun Gun, in order to repay the cost of the damages that "he" has caused inside the club. Although she is initially unhappy with this turn of events, Hotaru quickly begins to enjoy what survival games have to offer and is determined to pay off her debt, much to the dismay of Tooru Yukimura, the other member of Toy Gun Gun. As time goes on, Hotaru begins to develop a close friendship with the rest of the team and hopes to take part in realizing their dream of winning the Top Combat Game (TCG), a tournament to decide the best survival game team in Japan.

Although Hotaru tries her best, there are just two little problems: she is absolutely terrible at the game, and Toy Gun Gun doesn't allow female members on their team!

Masamune "Mattsun" Matsuoka

Masamune works as a Host at the Orion Host Club. He is responsible for introducing Hotaru to the world of "Survival Games". He, together with his childhood friend, Touru form an alliance called the "Toy ☆ Gun Gun Team". He is unaware of the fact that Hotaru is actually a girl. He invites her to form a survival game team with him on the condition that she repay the damages caused to the club by being a member.

It is revealed in episode 5 that Toy ☆ Gun Gun used to have a girl member, whom Masamune had invited. However, she was traumatized by a particularly brutal defeat in the Top Gun Combat tournament, and she quit survival games as a result. Although she didn't verbally blame him, Masamune, who watched the whole thing but was pinned down and unable to help, was left traumatized by the experience as well, leading to his current policy against letting girls join his team, as he doesn't want to put them in potentially dangerous situations.

Hotaru Tachibana

Hotaru is the Student Council President, and is known for her brute strength, good reflexes and a strong sense of Justice. She claims to not let "evil doers" get away with their evil deeds, and is often noted to enjoy picking fights for the sake of what's correct to the point where she beats up a bunch of students who were extorting money from a helpless student and desires for revenge on learning that her best friend, Kanae was supposedly conned by a Host. Although confrontational, she becomes very guilty and apologetic when she realizes that she was mistaken, as shown when she kneels and bows her head in apology after arguing with Masamune, despite there being several other people present. She is noted to have terrible accuracy with a gun and a bad habit of charging into the field without delay, but outstanding speed, stamina, and strength, which she uses to her advantage in close-quarters combat. She uses a Heckler & Koch G3 SAS High Cycle, a submachine gun, as her weapon from episode 4 onwards. She is often mistaken as a guy due to her appearance. She is next door neighbors with Masamune.
