Me and Peter watch Melanie has she comes down the stairs. her eyes are bloodshot from crying all night. she's wearing all black. we're going to her Mothers funeral. Which she needs to make a speech " ready " she softly says, I feel so bad I don't know how it feels to lose a parent specially to suicide, Peter pulling her closer into a hug. I look at the time 9:05am the funeral at 11:30am " Um want to go to IHOP ? " I ask I'm pretty sure Melanie hasn't eaten in a while. " Yes please!" Peter says. We drive to IHOP and the whole ride Melanie doesn't say a word, I can hear pretty whisper stuff in her ear to make her talk, or make her smile. But there's no point. We get to IHOP and almost immediately get our seats. "I'm gonna be your waiter for today. let's start of with drinks what can I get you guys?" She ask with a forced smile on her face. "um. a Dr. Pepper" Peter says looking through the menu. "A..uh. Sprite " I say looking up at her and smiling. "and for you lady?" She says looking at Melanie, Melanie looks up. "A water" she says, I frown at her because Melanie never even drinks water. It's always soda or juice, Peter catches on and looks at her " Are you okay?" He ask. I give him a what the hell does it look like look. He looks at me and frowns. I understand he's worried about her. But it's her mother funeral what does he expect? The waiter comes back with our drinks, me and Peter are talking about... I have no idea actually when I turn to Melanie she's playing with her straw and hasn't drank anything from her drink. "Mel, is everything ok" she looks at me and gives me a fake smile. "I'm fine, everything's great" she says looking out the window. I decided to lighten the mood. "remember when you And Betty ( Melanie mom ) and I decided to make cookies and they ended up sitting on fire. " I say laughing at the memories. She looks up at me and shakes her head getting up from her seat. " excuse me I'll be back " she says walking to the restroom, Peter gives me a really Look. " sorry, gosh! " I say following after Melanie. I walk into the bathroom and see Melanie with a bottle of sleeping pills she has a lot in her hand and she's crying. "MELANIE!" I say knocking the pills out of her mouth she screams at me and sits on the floor and cries. I call Peter and tell him to get his ass in the girls bathroom. Peters dumb self knocks on the bathroom door. "Can I come in?" Peter peaks his face in the door. "Yes!" I say, he looks at Melanie and his eyes start to water. He gets on his knees to the level Melanie on and grabs her hands. And picks her up. She cries on his shoulder. we leave ihop
