that everything was okay

that there wasn't a constant worry
because of the fact
that there's a small child
alone
at her house

So she sat through history
and math.
and she did her pacer test
and did Track.

and she pretended
that the ache in her heart.
was not there.

so walking back home
with the bruise on her shoulder
from being punched
wasn't that bad.

because at least
she would have someone
to walk home
to.

at least she would not be alone
