I looked out of the window of my car as my mom blabbed on and on about her new boyfriend.

I rolled my eyes as she lightly smacked her hand to my cheek.
"Hey! Are you listening to me?? I said he's coming over tonight. So you better be nice to him." She sighed heavily as I glared a bit in her direction then looked back out of the window.

I saw cop cars surrounding a bank as a man with black hair ran out of the building stuffing money into his ripped up jeans.
I raised a brow as he quickly got tackled and arrested.

"See? This is why you need to be extremely careful, Sydney." My mother shook her head in disappointment.
"There's always so much crime in this town. I keep thinking about moving. Inmates were breaking out of a jail today, I heard it on the news this morning." She said as I raised my brows a bit.
"This world is so fucked up now." She said as we pulled into the parking lot of the laundromat.

"Yeah, I get it." I said stepping out of the car and walked inside with her.

"Can't wait until our washing machine gets fixed. I hate coming here." My mother bickered as I nodded tiredly and sat inside a dryer.

"Sydney! Get out of there." My mother glared at me as she grabbed the white basket she brought from home, and grabbed the clothes out of the dryer next to me.

I huffed and stood up and leaned against the machines.
"Come on now. What's your deal today?" She asked me with some attitude in her voice.

"Nothing, I'm fine." I said shaking my head dully.

"You just seem a bit more agitated than usual." She shrugged folding the clothes into the basket.
"No, I'm totally fine." I grit my teeth angrily but forced a no teeth showing smile.

I rolled my eyes and walked towards the door.
"I'll be waiting in the truck." I called back to her as I walked outside and hoped into the truck.

I turned the keys in the ignition and turned it on.
I turned the radio on and smiled a bit until I saw my mom coming back outside carrying the basket in her hands.
I rolled my eyes and turned down the volume as I sunk into my hoodie.

"Thanks for staying and helping me." She said hoping into the drivers seat as I rolled my eyes.
"You would have just yelled at me for not doing something right. So what's the point?" I asked her as she changed the station as I slumped into my seat annoyed.

"The point is you cared enough to actually help!" She snapped as I nodded.
"Okay I'm sorry." I shrugged a shoulder.

We pulled into our driveway as I got out of the car and unlocked the front door.
"Dress nice,  because don't forget Andy's coming over for dinner in a half hour. The meatloaf is in the oven done cooking right now." She said as I held the door open for her.

"Mom, you know I don't eat that stuff." I said a bit disappointed.

"Oh I'm sorry your royal highness! I forgot I live in a house with a hippie." She rolled her eyes and shot a glare at me as my jaw dropped.

"Okay first of all, I'm not a hippie. So stop saying that I am. And second, you know that I can't eat red meats!" I shouted at her angrily.
