Camila threw a piece of gum into her mouth as she strode towards the diner she usually ate at, albeit she was there at a later time than usual which didn't please her. However, she was there for Lauren and that pleased her.
Brown darted back and forth, taking in the passers-by that she observed. It was early afternoon, based on the sky and position of the sun, Camila concluded it was roughly 2:30pm. Lunch hour had come and gone, but the streets of Miami were still bustling and busy. It made her feel at ease, it always had.
She walked along the cracked sidewalk, a few metres away from the diner and almost like it was scripted, Camila's stomach growled. She chuckled a little to herself, she was always hungry.
Camila tugged at her hoodie, pulling it closer to her frame as the breeze picked up, like a spark gaining fuel. However, she frowned deeply when her hands came into contact with nothing. It was then she remembered that Lauren had promised her she would give the newly repaired Grayson back. Camila had missed it, its warmth had always made her feel safe.
She pushed open the door of the diner, the old lady who owned it greeted her with a warm grin which Camila reciprocated. The brunette stopped for a moment and glanced around the adequately crowded establishment, she smiled more to herself when her eyes landed on the back of familiar head of raven tresses. Lauren.
Camila hurried over to the booth Lauren was sat at and slid in beside the older girl, still smiling. She kissed Lauren's cheek softly and felt the skin heat up. It felt so natural, everything felt natural with Lauren.
That's when someone cleared their throat and it then dawned on Camila that she had interrupted Lauren's conversation...with Dinah? Camila's eyes met the caramel ones of the blonde and blushed a little as Dinah wiggles her eyebrows, her eyes fleeting back and forth between Camila and Lauren. "Oh," Camila exclaimed shyly, "I'm sorry for interrupting." She said sincerely, smiling sheepishly at both girls. "Hi" she whispered to Lauren, turning her head to face her.
Lauren giggled, "Hey, Camz," she greeted happily, her eyes gleaming with something that could only be described as adoration.
Dinah watched the girls interacting and smiled; she was glad that Camila could make Lauren so happy. However, despite how happy she was that Lauren and Lauren's crush were getting along, she didn't enjoy being the third wheel and so, she cleared her throat. "Yo!" She spoke loudly, "That's enough for now lovebirds, I need some attention, too."
Lauren immediately started laughing, albeit with a deep blush on her face. Camila laughed too, not as flustered because frankly she wasn't bothered, Lauren looked too beautiful for her to be bothered.
"Dinah, shush," Lauren laughed, glancing around the diner, realising quickly that the people nearby were staring at the commotion the blonde had caused, "People are watching." She told her, hoping Dinah would get the memo.
She didn't. She simply shrugged and with an innocent smile said, "You were getting your flirt on with lover-girl, and although I'm not complaining about some Camren action. I'm your best friend, I'm kinda needy for your attention. You know this."
Before Lauren could even speak up, Camila interjected with a raised eyebrow, "Camren?" She enquired, flickering her eyes back and forth between Lauren and Dinah, hoping for an explanation.
"Mhm," Dinah nodded, "Camren." She confirmed, and when Camila's brow remained raised she sighed, "It's yours and Lauren's ship name." She explained, leaning back in her chair and reached for her glass of soda, taking a sip. "I'm the captain." Dinah told the brunette, shaking her free hand to add effect.
Camila laughed at the blonde, already starting to like her. She could see why Dinah was Lauren's best friend, she was fun and carefree but it was obvious by just looking at her that Dinah was extremely protective and from how she was talking, it was clear she cared deeply for Lauren and Lauren's happiness. Camila was hoping they'd be able to start over, she wanted Dinah to like her.
