Chapter 5 - The Car Ride

*Calum’s POV*

I looked in the rearview mirror, making sure everyone was strapped in and Jenny was as comfortable as she could be with the glass in her leg, split lip and god only knows what else. She went down HARD and in such a weird way that there was SURE to be more injuries. I started the truck up and started the long drive from the diamond to the hospital, hoping Michael would already be there.

I noticed the song playing was off the playlist on her phone, which was still plugged into the truck and immediately recognized it as the playlist she listened to to get herself hyped up for a ball game. I decided to plug in my phone and play that playlist, which for the most part consisted of most of the same stuff we like to listen to, country, some All Time Low, stuff like that.

I had been trying to focus so hard on the road through the tears in my eyes that I didn’t notice the flashing lights and sirens behind me until Ashton had said something in a strained voice.

“Uhhh… Calum?”

*Ashton’s POV*

I had been watching out the window trying to control my tears when I heard the music change. I looked up to notice Calum had unplugged his phone and plugged in Jenny’s phone. I looked down at Jenny to make sure she was okay-ish, because I mean, come on; she won’t be all candies and rainbows.

I was about to look back out the window when something caught my eye in the rearview mirror…

“Uhhh… Calum?” I said in a strained voice.

“What?” He looked in his mirror and muttered a string of curses under his breath as he slowed down and pulled over. He reached into the glove box and got out the registration for the truck as the cop got out of the car and made his way over. “Text Mikey and tell him we’re on the way…” he sighed as the cop knocked on the window.

*Cop’s POV*

I had been sitting at the side of the road watching the traffic when this truck came out of nowhere going at LEAST 130 km/h in a 90 zone. I switched on my lights and sirens and started after the vehicle. Man they must really be in a hurry to get somewhere or they were impaired.

I was following for about 5 minutes before the driver noticed and pulled over. I stopped the car and made my way over to the vehicle, knocking on the window as the driver rolled it down.

“License and registration please.” I said as the driver handed the information to me. I took it back to the car and ran a background search on “Calum” and it came up clean. I went back to the car.

“Calum, is it? Do you know how fast you were going, son?” I asked him.

“No, officer.” He answered, almost as if he were in a hurry to be somewhere.

“You were going 130 km in a 90 zone. Have you been drinking?” I looked at him.

“No, officer, I am underage and wouldn’t think of doing that.” He answered truthfully.

“Can you tell me why you were going so fast then, son? Were you participating in any illegal activities?”

“No, officer. I don’t do drugs, and neither does anyone else in this vehicle. We were on the way to the hospital from my best friend’s ball game, she was badly hurt and has multiple injuries to the face, head, leg and possibly knee area and has lost a lot of blood.” He rushed, glancing into the back seat. “Ash, roll down the window!”

I took two steps and looked in the back window, seeing a girl holding a bloody towel to her tear streaked face and the boy with the blonde quiff supporting her leg as I could see a shard of glass sticking out of it.

“Please…” was all the blonde one holding her leg whimpered as he looked at her with tears running down his face.

I walked to the driver and looked at him. “Okay, she is still losing a lot of blood and she needs to get to the hospital fast. Stay tight on my right bumper.” I instructed as I jogged back to the car, hearing a “Thank you so much” out of Calum.

*Luke’s POV*

I groaned as Calum pulled over and waited for the cop. I was mentally cursing him for being so stupid to get caught speeding, but at the same time I can’t blame him, I would be speeding too trying to get to the hospital. I listened as Calum explained what happened and why he was speeding.

About a minute later Cal called back to Ash to roll the window down. I didn’t even bother to look up at the officer as he walked to the window and looked in the back.

“Please…” I whimpered, barely audible. The cop looked at her and walked back to Calum.

“Okay, she is losing a lot of blood and she needs to get to a hospital fast. Stay tight on my right bumper.” He told Calum, jogging back to his car earning a “Thank you so much” from him. He started to go with the lights and sirens as Cal pulled out and started to follow closely behind the cruiser.

A/N: Ooooouh Calum got LUCKY with the cop ;)

Sorry for the constantg POV switching... I'm working with what I already have written which in MS word is about 86-87 pages....
NOTE ABOUT THE SPEED! I am a CANADIAN girl so the speed is in kilometers per hour and not miles per hour...

Anyway! Vote, comment, add to your library if you like it! I will try and update again soon but exams are coming up faster than I would like so I have to study for them...
