Acid's POV
I sat out in the forest with Baron by me. He, at the moment, is running around my feet. "We don't need anyone Baron. Just you and me and birds and trees and nature. We'll be fine."
"Hi Acid." I hear someone who sounds like Falon say. What do you know? It is Falon. And he's with Cadmar.
"Hi." I say coldly.
Cadmar smiles, "We got off on the wrong foot Acid. Please allow me to intro-"
"Stop right there, Cadmar. I know who you are. You are the stuck-up leader of the village. You are as stuck-up as-"
He seemed to fly across the gap between us, pinning me to the ground. "I am not like Athena. Do not call me that."
"Okay, okay, it's getting a little tense here. Why don't you get off of her Cadmar? She-"
"Shut up Falon!" We both say at once.
I push Cadmar off of me. Baron runs up to my side, baring his teeth at Cadmar. "Calm down Baron. It's just an idiot. He won't cause us harm. Only-"
"I need you." Cadmar says.
I stare at him, mouth wide open. Cadmar turns red, "T-T-That isn't w-w-what I meant! I mean the village needs you! We all need you! Please come back."
"I have some demands you need to meet if I come back."
Cadmar nods, "Fair enough. What are they?"
"I want to be second in command."
Cadmar shakes his head, "I can't do that. You have to challenge Athena for her spot. None of the other women are as strong as Athena. You are stronger than most women in our village, including Athena. I believe you can beat her easily."
"So how do these challenges work?"
"You fist fight. First one who has their feet in the air and back on the ground is the loser. You cannot challenge anyone else for at least half a year if you challenge someone. Same for the person who was challenged."
"So if I beat Athena, I become second in command for at least half a year before she will, undoubtedly, challenge me again?"
"Yes." Cadmar nods. "What are your other demands that I can fulfill?"
"Baron stays with me. You touch him, you dead."
Cadmar laughs, "Sounds like more of a threat."
"Maybe it is." Falon smirks, "She could take you so easy Cadmar."
"Shut up Falon!" Cadmar growls.
"Okay." Falon pouts.
"You guys are odd. Like brothers."
"He's my right hand man." Cadmar nods, "I would trust Falon with my life."
"But I wouldn't trust you with my life." Falon laughs.
"Shut up!"
"You sure like to say that to me don't ya?" Falon giggles.
"Yes I do. That is because you cannot keep that pretty little mouth of yours shut!"
"Can I finish my list? Or are you gonna keep cutting me off?"
"Okay. Finish up Acid."
"I want to live with anyone except for Jake. I do not want Jake near me yet. He hurt me. I don't like feeling vulnerable." I stop the sob in my voice but it cracks at the end.
"That won't be a problem. You'll stay with Falon and me."
"I could never-"
"But you will. So that is that. Anything else?"
"I do not want to be restrained from any flow of information or anything of that sort."
"Yes. Of course. You will know everything I know. And I know everything."
Falon chuckles, "You don't know my favorite flavor ice cream!"
"Vanilla with rainbow sprinkles."
"Never mind. He does know everything!" Falon gasps dramatically.
"So, are you coming back? Pleeeaaaase?" Cadmar makes a puppy dog face at me.
"Yes. Just stop the torture. I can't handle that face."
Baron jumps up next to me, licking my chin. "I am not talking to you young man. Also, Baron will need some essentials. Right now he needs milk and a place to stay. Okay? Okay."
"Okay." Cadmar smiles. "He is kinda adorable."
"Aw thank you!" Falon says with a smile.
"Not you idiot! I'm talking about the wolf pup. Did you say his name was Baron?"
"Yea."
"It suits him. His silver fur and knowing green eyes, along with a white tipped tail." Cadmar nods, "Let's get you back."
I get up, picking up Baron. Baron yaps and squirms in my arms. "You are already getting bigger." I groan at his weight. I think he is going to be a fat wolf at the way I spoil him.
"Come on." Cadmar wraps his arm around my shoulders and Falon comes up to my side. We walk back to that one oak tree.
Cadmar does that weird knob thing and walks through with me. Falon follows us. Everyone looks up. "Take Baron. I'm challenging now. Before any damage is done." I growl, handing Baron to Falon.
"Aw! The little brat is back." Athena says, stepping out from the crowd.
"I challenge you Athena. I am going to take your place."
