*A couple months later*
*Ring Ring*
My phone sang on the couch next to my big stack of laundry, playing Harry’s least favorite ringtone, Marimba.
“That better be Zoe,” I said as I ran to pick it up. I had invited her over to fold laundry and hang out, but she was bringing her stupid dog. It was Harry.
“Hello?”
“Hey Tae. Are you doing anything tonight?”
“Im not sure. Probably. You can come help me fold laundry.” I laughed. “Zoe’s supposed to come over later.”
“oh, okay?”
“you can come over if you want to.” I laughed . “I still cant believe you didn’t believe me when I warned you about delaine. I told you so- I’m always right.”
Harry was about to say something cheeky when my phone buzzed.
“Hold on, Harry,” I said, folding one of the shirts he bought me months ago. “I’ve got another call, I’ll call you back.”
*click *
“Zoe?”
“Hey, I cant come over, I’ve got a blind date, with this guy named Alfie, tonight.” Zoe lowered her voice. “And honestly it would be better for this guy if I was blind.”
“Zoeeee!” I whined. And then two pieces clicked in my head.
“You guys can both come over. Harrys here. We can make it a blind double date!”
Zoe agreed but said they were stuck in traffic and would be a while, so I called Harry back and made popcorn.
Fifteen minuets later I heard the flat door open, but no one falled out. “ZOE?” I yelled. “HARRY?”
No answer. Creepy.
“Hello?” I walked over to the door, holding the bowl of popcorn. The door to the hall was wide open.
“Hello?” I repeated, more scared.
“BOOO!” Harry yelled, jumping out of the closet in front of me.
I shrieked and threw my bowl of popcorn, sending buttered kernels flying into the air.
“Harry!” I screamed. He scooped me up and tickled me, carrying me screaming back to the couch. When I finally could breathe again and had finished laughing. I chose a movie while harry made more popcorn.
We watched ‘Love Actually and I found myself drowsing off on him shoulder. Je smelled so good, and the blanket was to warm.
“Are you falling asleep?” Harry smiled. His voice was soft and he brushed a strand of hair off my face.
“Hmm?” I sat up and blinked a couple of times, trying to clear my thoughts. “Is the movie over?” I mumbled,
Harry shook his head, stroking my face. I closed my eyes. My brain was functioning so slowly, but somewhere it registered that Harry had only broke up with Delaine a couple months ago. What did he think he was doing?
“Harry?” I yawned and rubbed my eyes. He was studying my face and smiled quietly. “You sure you know what you’re doing?”
He took a deep breath. “I knew what I was doing the moment I laid eyes on you at Starbucks.”
“Huh?” I asked. Uh-oh
“in fact, I knew what I was doing even before that.”
I sat up
“what do you mean?”
“Taelor, I never actually loved Delanie.” Man, his eyes were so green.
“The only reason I went out with her was because I was lonely. None of the other guys understood-they all have girlfriends o wife’s. They just told me to get one myself- so I did. Now that you’re here, I actually have a reason to have a girlfriend. I love her.”
Unable to really comprehend what he was saying, I felt my heart sink. I found myself staring at Harry’s soft lips. “You have another girlfriend?” I asked sadly.
He laughed.
“Apparently she doesn’t know it yet.”
Harry closed the little remaining space between us and gently pressed his lips to mine.
