The Elder Staff

When I woke up, I found that my wound had stopped bleeding. In it's place was a bandage along with some gauze. I stumbled upright and looked around the cave, wondering who had treated me.

"Ah, good your up," Kyxio said, sitting beside a fire sharpening his sword, though not having much success with one arm"I was wondering if you'd ever wake up again."

I ignored his joke and looked around the cave again. Apparently Kyxio had woken up, but Alexia, along with around 30 survivors had also joined us.

"How'd you know where we were?" I asked, "The cave was pretty hidden."

"We didn't have to find you," Alexia said, "The elder staff automatically locates other swords."

I glanced at the cave floor beside Alexia and sure enough, there was a glowing staff sitting beside her. It's hilt was made out of oak, with the old Galian alphabet etched onto the old wood. At the top was a glowing orb that wasn't attached to the staff, but it still floated there anyways.

"Is that actually it?" I asked, "The Elder Staff?"

The Elder Staff was the most powerful weapon in Gala. Last I heard, it was still in the Sanctuary, being guarded by the most powerful magicians. Only Alexia and her family would use the staff, but Alexia wasn't old enough yet to unlock it's full potential yet, so she used a regular staff before.

"It is," Alexia replied, nodding her head, "I figured it was time to put the staff to good use. I told some magicians at the Sanctuary to teleport it here, and I managed to get some other soldiers out before King Louis broke the walls."

"So you've managed to figure out how to use it?" I asked, "That weapon is the most powerful thing in all of Gala. If you could unlock it's full powers..."

"Not yet," She replied, "Learning to use one of the swords of gala is easy, it comes in your blood. But the staff... you have to practice for a long time to even begin to comprehend its power. I wasn't expected to even touch this thing in the next 10 years."

     "But you did," Kyxio commented.

"Desperate times calls for desperate actions," Alexia said.

With that, the cave fell silent. There were only about 20 soldiers in the cave, the rest was outside guarding and looking for Regime Soldiers. Finally, after a while, I couldn't stand the silence.

"What are we going to do now?" I asked

"Go to Harman's Castle," Chole said, "We need the protection there and I think Kyxio's arm needs to be treated."

Chole was right about that. Kyxio's arm had been bleeding continuously for the past hour and it didn't look too good. We put a bandage on it, but without proper equipment, it wouldn't do anything.

"Can you use that staff of yours to heal him?" I asked Alexia.

"Can't," She replied flatly, "Wish we had the Sword Of Light right now, it could instantly heal any wound on the user and can heal others as well. The Elder Staff however..."

She didn't finish the sentence but rather let it dangle. I looked outside the cave. It was starting to lighten up, with meant that I had slept through the night.

"How long is the ride?"I asked, "I mean the walk, we don't have horses right?"

"Who said anything about walking?" Alexia asked, as she picked up the Elder Staff again, "everyone get in a circle."
