The Serpent

I dreamed of that night again. It always came back to me, no matter how hard I tried, it always found me eventually. I was wandering through the hallways of the Royal palace in Crown's End.

      "Kyxio?" I shouted, "Alexia?"

I kept on wandering through the dark hallways until I came upon one door. Inside, was the throne room with the Colour throne almost glowing in the room. My father sat on that throne, sharpening the Sword of Destiny with a whetstone. He sighed, sat up on his throne and planted his sword in between his feet.

"Come on out," He shouted, "Let's get this over with."

Almost instantly, the shadows that in the room lengthened and 4 men stepped out of it. I recognized almost all of them. They were the commanders of the garrison. Each of them drew their sword, while one of them brandished a spear.

"You're rein is over Henry," One of them snarled, "It's time the true king comes to power!"

"You want the throne?" My father said, raising his sword into a fighting position, "Come and take it!"

At once, the 4 men charged forwards towards the throne. The king stood his ground and his sword started to glow. My fathers eyes lit up and his whole body started to radiate light. Not the yellow, warming light from the sun, but a colder, pure white light.

As quick as lightning, the king grabbed one of the swords while taking a swing at the spear. It spear snapped right down the middle while the sword shattered under his hand. Henry twirled and hacked while the 4 men surrounded him, slashing every undefended part of his body. My father was forced to slowly back down one step at a time until he was at the foot of the Colour Throne.

Then, the throne room doors slammed open and King Louis himself walked in. He reached into his scabbard and pulled out a mighty 2 handed sword that radiated power. The Sword Of Power. My father, having seen the sword, slammed his fist towards the ground and a shock wave so powerful that the windows shattered pushed the 4 men away.

"Not bad, not bad at all," King Louis said, "You held off 4 of the most powerful swordsman in Gala all by yourself. Now hand the sword and throne over Henry. It's the least you can do after you left me to die."

"I had no choice Louis," Henry said, wiping blood of his face, "If I had ran back for you, that would have been the end. For both of us."

"You left me to die!" Louis shouted, "I'm willing to repay that favour."

Forming a semicircle, Louis and the commanders slowly closed in on the King. I rushed in to help, but at that moment, I saw someone pass the doorway. It was me, 7 years ago. It gaped at the fighting, ignoring Tradan, who was pulling me.

As the sword finally plunged into my fathers chest, the Colour Throne started glowing brighter and brighter until I couldn't see anything.

Suddenly, I bolted up from my bed in sweating hard. I was in a small cold room that was completely dark except for the glow from my sword. With a shock, I realized that the glow from the sword was the same as the glow of the Colour throne in my dream.

I got up from my bed and walked across the room and picked up my sword. The sword glowed a bit brighter when I laid my hands on it. For some reason, I felt as if I had a connection with that night through this sword. I concentrated and for a moment, I was back in the throne room of Gala.

Then, as I was about to move around, the door to the small room creaked open and I lost my connection with the sword.

"Hayden," Alexia said, as she walked through the door, "You woke up."
