"The Battle of The Crossing was one of the bloodiest battles in the war on the States side. No true battle, but rather a slaughter. The first defeat in what was an almost perfect campaign for the States and their allies. They lost 4,000 men that day. almost half of their army. This was a defeat that they had never recovered from." -Galian History Book

"No, no, no," I whispered to myself was the silhouette of the dragon came into view, "They aren't supposed to be here."

"Aim for the dragon!" Alexia shouted as she rode down the battle lines, "Archers! Ready your arrows!"

Jay hurried down the King's Crossing, getting men off the bridge while also getting our army on the other side back to our side. There were over 3,000 men on the other side of that bridge. And they would be all dead unless they came to our side.

The roar of the dragon shook the ground itself. As I looked at the horizon, Ikhad wasn't alone on his dragon. There were at least 5 other DragonKnights riding alongside him.

"Arrow! Arrow!" I shouted, thundering down the hill from which I had stood, "Aim for the eyes! Eyes!"

Our archers hastily moved to grab their arrows, but there was only a handful of them on our side. The majority of our archers had been sent to Birch Hill because they were a better defense than offense. We hadn't planned to storm GoldRidge either.

But now I guess that was all impossible. Ikhad's dragon reared down and shot a column of black fire so hot I could feel it from the opposite side of the bridge. The rest of the dragons, being almost twice as small as Ikhads, stayed aloft and flew over our army, over the bridge and towards us.

"Loose! Loose!" Alexia shouted as she readied her staff.

A loose volley of arrows sailed through the air, but the dragons shot up last second and the arrows fell effortlessly back to the Earth.

"They're coming back again!" I shouted, drawing my sword and forming a small shield around our men.

The dragons roared and dove down. Instead of breathing fire as Ikhad's dragon had, they dove even closer and began raking our soldiers with their claws. Alexia yelled and shot a golden beam of fire from her staff that incinerated the wings off one of the dragons. The dragon tumbled to the ground with its rider where it was inevitably butchered.

Still, the main bulk of the Regime army was still on the march towards our army on the other side. I saw our commanders on the Southside of the Crossing trying to organize the men, but they were being scattered by the dragon fire and Ikhad's constant attacks.

A large fire had caught on the small town at the base of GoldRidge. It was probably set by State soldiers since the fire was normal, unlike the darky texture of Ikhad's fires. This gave our army a small buffering zone between us and the Regime main army.

The Regime had commissioned a small cavalry charge and was rushing towards our forces, but stopped when they saw the fire. Charging through the smoking town would be suicide and since it was situated between the ridge and the hill of the castle itself, there would be no other way around it.

The fire would take at least a couple more hours to die down, giving our soldiers a chance to cross the bridge.

Jay had made his way over to the Southside of the crossing and soldiers were now crossing over.

"Keep the dragons at bay!" I shouted as a dragon raked on my white barrier around our archers, "I'm going to try and defend the bridge."
