Before I start this chapter. I would like to say thanks to Belle, my drunken bunny friend and Merida my 'the Dwarfish' friend. May we be friends through highschool and beyond and may y'all get your Beast and your Dopey and I get my Flynn Rider. :)

Chapter 11

I felt so much better without the crutches for my leg. I’d just gotten them off, last Friday and it felt amazing. My arms had started aching so much I thought they’d fall off.

Things in school helped too. Hayley became furious because a lot of her friends abandoned her, and joined me instead. My lunch table had become the ‘popular’ table and honestly? It was awful. I hated all of these people because they didn’t talk about anything interesting, not like my friends did. They were extremely cruel too, even to their friends. Talking about people behind their backs, gossiping and spreading rumors was too much for me. Thanks, but no thanks, I preferred my life before all of this happened.

I even had to start eating less. After one day, when I had chips with my lunch and was stared at like I was a freak, I’d stuck to eating a salad. It sucked, and I was hungry. Seriously, why did the girls eat nothing? I don’t understand because the guys can eat everything, and I mean everything, and the girls think it’s...cute. But you get something with carbs within ten feet of them and they scream like they’ve been burned.

My friends started hanging out with me less and less, except for Snow. We remained tight but Mia had definitely put some distance between us. I still remember the first “lesson” that was held at my house.

“Ella, come on this new fashion is tres a la mode!” Mia had said switching to French as she often did.

“Mia. I don’t think she can breathe,” Snow had brought up after seeing my face turn blue-ish. I tried to give a smile of thanks but Mia thought it was meant for her.

“Nonsense! She still has enough muscle strength to smile.”

“Yeah but it only takes 22 muscles to smi-”

“Yes, dearie, that’s enough.” Mia had dismissed her through white teeth, “Why don’t you get Ellie here some water?”

“Ellie?” Snow asked not sure how to respond.

“Yes isn’t it tres bon? Now shoo!” She almost pushed Snow out of the room, slamming the door behind her. I frowned but shrugged, deciding it was necessary. I looked to the mirror, the jeans and shirt were insanely tight. I almost couldn’t breathe, but enough so that Mia could continue with her “lesson”. Tight clothing was #2 on Mia’s Book for the Populars. That was another weird thing, they referred to themselves as the populars and spoke in third person often.

Now, sitting in Science, I could see what Snow had meant. I could barely breathe sitting down. It didn’t help seeing Hayley and Andrew flirting. My heart started beating really fast, I couldn’t tell what was wrong. And my stomach hurt, maybe I was sick? No, I couldn’t be sick, my stepmother would kill me.

I felt a sharp tap on my shoulder. Turning around, I was met with a pair of handsome brown eyes. I couldn’t help but compare them to Andrews but when I heard Hayley giggle at a joke he’d said, I brought my self to look at the boy again. Deep tan, brown eyes and brown hair, he looked familiar. I think he was one of the boys that sat at my table now. What was his name? Mick..Mack...Mark? Yeah that sounded right, Mark.

“Hey!” I smiled brightly.

“Hi. I was wondering if you could grab my pencil?” He pointed to a spot near my seat.

I grabbed it, accidentally flipping my hair, but I managed to grab it without making a fool of myself.

“Here you are.” I gave it to him, remaining eye contact. Rule #3 of Mia’s book for the rising Queens: Remain Eye Contact At All Times. The book also known as flirting 101 because that's apparently a big part of being popular.

So, I was supposed to look at him long enough to keep him interested but not too long. I’d thought it was weird the first time she’d shown me but so far I’d gotten three guys numbers, and that was just today.

I turned back around but was stopped by a strong hand forcing me to turn back around.

I looked to see a goofy grin on his face, “Hi, again. I’m Mark.”

**&&^^&&**

After our science teacher felt we’d done enough work, we had been allowed to talk to our partners for our project. Snow was out sick as was Mark’s partner, so we decided to talk to each other. We talked about everything...and for being a popular he had a ton to talk about that wasn’t boring. I was starting to see why he was popular, he was funny. Everyone knew it and they almost...respected him for it.

He walked me to the lunch room, offering to hold my books and everything. I felt like I was part of some Disney movie or a book on Wattpad but it was all real.

Everybody was warming up to me too. People I didn’t know came up to say hi, well it was really to Mark but they complimented me too. Though everyone kept calling me Ellie, it was odd but I couldn't bring myself to tell them that wasn't my name. Which defyed rule #4 Never Be Shy...Never Ever. But I figured that defying Mia was probably against some rule too. I wasn't sure and thinking about it too long made my head hurt.

As we sat down at the lunch table, I could see Tia and Nick. Tia was sitting on Nick’s lap feeding him something. As if sensing I was looking at her, she raised her eyes to me and smiled momentarily before fixing her gaze on Nick. I’d learned that he’d explained everything to her and she completely understood.

I swerved my head around the cafeteria, expecting to see Andrew and Hayley talking and flirting but only found Andrew. He was sitting with some of his football friends, talking animatedly. Hayley was nowhere to be seen.

I saw a flash of silver, in the corner of my eye and somehow, over the noise of the cafeteria,  I heard the door shut. I immediately stood up, going to investigate it. It wouldn’t have normally bothered me but I knew Hayley was wearing silver this morning. I wasn’t sure if it was her but not wanting to take the chance, I took a glance back and caught Mark’s curious stare. Shooting him an apologetic look, I left.

Unsure of where to go, I just walked until the sound of the lunch room faded. I started hearing some more voices, and realized I was outside of the girl’s bathroom. In barely audible voices I could hear Hayley and someone who sounded vaguely familiar but I couldn’t figure out who. I didn’t find it weird until I heard my name and it finally clicked in my mind that whoever was in there with her was the traitor.
