     Song of the Chapter: A little too much by Shawn Mendes    

               I didn't sleep. I didn't move from my spot in the floor for hours. My phone buzzed a few more times but I made no effort to get up and see who it was. I don't care. I cried and cried until I felt like I literally couldn't cry anymore. I glanced up at the clock on my bedside table at around 6:30am and decided to move my sulking from the floor to the bed. I decided to skip school that day which was now Thursday. I ran my hands over my tear soaked face and pushed my hair off my forehead then grabbed my phone and rolled over onto my back, holding the phone above my face. 3 texts from Michael and 6 from June. I sighed and opened Junes first.

i know what today is, i hope you're okay. received at 6:22am.

            I decided to call her. She answered on the second ring.

"V thank God." She answered.

"Hi." I said, surprised at how hoarse my voice sounded. 

"He called mom yesterday." I heard her gasp quietly.

"Oh. What happened? What did he want?" She said and remembering what my mom told me nearly made me start crying again.

"I- he-" I couldn't speak.

"I'm going to come see you before I go to school okay? Ill be okay missing first period." She told me. I didn't argue even though I wanted too. 

"Okay." was all I could say. Less than 10 minutes later, my door slowly opened. I sat up and June was standing there with a sad smile and a brown bag. She set her purse down and walked over to the bed and sat beside me. I didn't look at her. 

"I figured you might be hungry." She said and pulled out a few bagels from the brown bag. I looked at them and then at her, and as soon as I did, I lost it. I fell into her lap sobbing. 

"Oh god V." She rubbed my back trying to comfort me as I cried.

"He's getting married. She has 2 kids. He forgot about me." I bawled harder. She wrapped her small arms around me and held me as tight as possible. I grabbed onto her arm.

"I'm nothing June. I mean nothing. Not to him not to anyone. Everybody just leaves and no matter what I do, I can't prevent it." I tried calming my breathing down.

"Hey," She lifted my up so we were face to face. "He may have left. That was all HIM. It had nothing to do with you V. I will not let you blame yourself for your piece of shit father. I'm sorry but that's what he is. He left the best thing that had and will ever happen to him." She wiped my face and I noticed she was tearing up. 

"Veronica Mae Benson, I promise you, I'm not going anywhere. You're my best friend and favorite person in the entire world and that includes Ashton. You're my Day 1 ,V. I'm not going anywhere. Besides, I miss my happy V." She pulled me against her and hugged me. I wrapped my arms around her and sighed against her shoulder. I pulled back and looked at her.

"You're the only good thing I've got going in my life you know that." I told her. She smiled.

"Diddo bestfriend." She replied. "You know, the boys love you. I'm sure if you need to talk to anyone and I'm not available, they'd be more than willing. Especially Michael." She winked. Surprisingly, I let out a small laugh.
