song of the chapter: fragile by gnash

Ronnies POV.
"Please wake up, Im so sorry." I heard as my eyes started fluttering open. Michael sat beside me with his head in his hands.

"Hey." I sat up slowly trying to remember what happened. Then it hit me.

"Ronnie I didn't know or I never would've brought us here. I didn't mean to upset you and then you passed out and it freaked me out." He ran a hand through his already messy hair. I looked around. We were in the main room of the house. Almost all the same furniture as when I was little was still there.

"It's not your fault. I just, I was just surprised and I got overwhelmed and panicked and I kind of forgot to breathe. I guess that's why I passed out." I assured him and he looked at me.

"We can leave if you want. Me and you." He suggested and I got butterflies. I layed my head on his shoulder.

"As much fun as that sounds, I'll be okay here. There's just a lot of memories here and it's gonna take me a bit but I'll be okay." He layed his hand on my leg and my sadness about the house was taken over by the nervousness I suddenly felt. I stared at his large hand on my leg.

"Wait, where is everybody?" I looked around and everyone's bags were there but it was just me and Michael. He gestured out the sliding glass doors that lead directly onto the beach.

"I told them I'd wait with you so they could go on to the beach." He said. I spotted June and Ashton chasing eachother around and Calum and Luke walking further into the waves.

"Thank you." I told him. He turned to look at me and our lips grazed. My body stilled and Michaels pale green eyes stared into mine. I swallowed hard. For a moment I thought he was going to kiss me but instead he turned away and cleared his throat.

"So, you want to join everyone on the beach?" He asked. I nodded and went to ny suitcase to grab my swimsuit. Just a black bikini because that's all the store had left. I hadn't needed a bathing suit in 3 years so I didn't know what to get. I hurried and out mine on and slipped a way oversized white tee over top and walked back into the main room to wait for Michael. He didn't take long to get dressed and we walked out the sliding doors to greet everybody else.
Nobody mentioned my little episode. We all layed out towels and a few chairs. The boys set up a little fire pit.

"Hey V, wanna go in the water with me while the boys get the fire started?" June asked, leaning up off the towel with her elbows. I nodded and we got up. June hopped up and kissed Ashton quickly before linking her arm with mine as we walked towards the water. We went up to our waists and decided we were out far enough.

"It crossed my mind." She stated without looking at me. I stared at her, confused.

"What did?"

"Well I didn't think it would be the exact house, I thought we might be next door or something. Ashton gave me the address so I could see how long the ride would be. You'd think I would have remembered the address considering how many letters I sent here." She smiled and looked at me. I shrugged, I didn't really know what to say. It's not her fault, or anybody's really. It was just a tragic coincidence. She reached over and rubbed my arm and looked back out at the sunset.

"You think the box is still here?" I asked, a happy memory playing in my head. June's head snapped to look at me.

"Oh my- I forgot about that!" She yelled and I raised my eyebrows at her before glancing over st the boys. They obviously heard her because of the odd looks they were giving us.

"So did I. I doubt it's still here." I said.

When my dad and I first started coming here for the summer, I was 6. June and I sent letters and pictures back and forth all summer even though we talked on the phone everyday. Even as we got older it became our thing. When I turned 10, June came with us and spent the summer with us. My mom came too, but she spent most of the time on her computer or phone working. That box holds a lot of secrets. We vowed to never share it with anybody so we hid it behind the broken tile in the top of the closet in what used to be my room.
