The Bargain.
I listened intently as the bully, who I find out is actually named David, tells me his bargain.
Fear runs trhrough me as I ignore the other boy sitting next to me.
"You will either pay me off, or let me have my ways with you for the year." he said
I didn't like the sound of the second one!
"how much?!" I blurted out
He smirked and said "I'm sad, I thought for sure you would let me have my way with you!" he winked and panick rose inside of me as quickly as my heart was pounding.
I really don't like this at all!
"how much?!" I insisted and saw the ugly smirk wiped off his face.
"a thousand each." he said
A thousand dollars?! Is he kidding me?! Who the heck has one thousand dollars hanging around?
My mouth dropped as realization dawned one me.
"how long do we have until we pay?" the boy next to me asked.
"until the end of the week" David said
My eyes widened in horror!
A WEEK? For a THOUSAND dollars? he has to be kidding!
"I can pay you in a few days" the boy said and the bully nodded, motioning for him to leave.
I looked away and thought my options over carefully. I hated this!
I realized that David was looking intently at me, as I was thinking.
He smiled and said "what about you superwoman?"
How ironic! There couldn't be a worse nickname for me right now. I looked into David's cold eyes.
"Let me try to see how much money I can get by the end of the week, and if I can't........" I paused for a long time, regretting my next words ..."I'll let you have your way with me.." I said in a voice barely above a whisper.
"I hope you don't make a dime!" he chuckled and left me in complete horror and shock.
Thanks for trying to be superwoman on the first day of school... It really helps to help other kids that are getting beat up, I told myself.
Now how was I going to come up with a thousand dollars by the end of the week?
