"Howard, you say that you don't want to go but every year you go and you enjoy it," Mr. Lawrence told his son.
"My name is not Howard. It's Howie," Howeii corrected him.
"Why do you have to be so difficult?" Mr. Lawrence asked.
"Cause you keep on calling me Howard and my birth certificate says my name is Howie," Howeii replied.
"Not about your name! I meant about camp."
"I don't want to go."
"You know, Gerry isn't giving this much trouble," Mr. Lawrence told him. Howeii clenched his jaw.
"I'll go to the stupid freak camp, but quit comparing me to Gerry!" Howeii, without getting up from his chair, thrust his dad backwards and slammed the door. He was honestly fed up with everyone always comparing him to his perfect brother. 'Howeii how come you don't go to school like Gerry,' 'Why is Gerry so nice and you're so mean,' 'Howeii do you mean to have everyone hate you?'
He wished he was one of those people who could go to camp and pretend they're not related to their sibling. Sadly, he was identical to his brother, only in face, though.
If Howeii were to be honest, he had to say that he actually liked camp; 8 weeks away from his mom and his dad. For a downside, he had to spend 8 weeks with his brother. It was soon, too. July 7th was only a week and a half away. Though, all of the camp papers had to be in by the June 29th, this Sunday. If only the camp had made it closer than 2 and a half weeks from the end of the school year. At least he was going, at all.
A knock came on his door.
"What," was his answer.
"Howeii, open the door," it was his dad.
"No," Howeii replied.
"I said, open the door."
"No."
"Open. The. Door." His dad growled. Without turning around or looking at his dad, Howeii opened the door.
"Your mother wants to speak to you," Mr. Lawrence was at his wit's end. Normally, he would never call Howeii's mother, but today, Howeii was being an exceptional pain. At 10-years-old Howeii was as troublesome as a teenager, maybe even more.
Still not looking at his father, Howeii brings the phone to his hand.
"Hello," he says.
"Howeii, your father says that you're being disagreeable," is the first thing his mother says to him. It's funny how they're divorced yet they still always take each other's side.
"He keeps on calling me Howard," Howeii replies.
"Still, quit acting disagreeable, okay? I'm at your brother's spelling bee, and I don't have time for this," His mom might as well have said "and I don't have time for you."
"Then, why did you pick up?" Howeii asked and hung up the phone. He held it over his shoulder for his dad to take it. In all honesty, camp couldn't come sooner.
