"Welcome to Sunshine Over Waterfall guys," The camp director Danny, tells everybody, causing everyone to quiet down. He sounded completely and utterly phony, so thought Colton. People naturally weren't that peppy. Not at 8'o'clock on a Monday. Leeanna giggles from across the table, she must have read his mind.
"So, you've all met your counselors and the kids in your cabin, so there's not much to tell you guys. Basically, we want you guys to have fun and your counselors will lead you around everywhere so no need to worry about getting lost." Danny explained. "The most important rules are: be friendly, listen to your teachers, and try your best. Also, choose wisely how you spend your free time. There's a free period every day, from 4 to 7 to do whatever you want. We just don't want anybody wandering around by their selves, since the camp is so big. Any questions?"
Nobody had any, so the breakfast was brought out. It was oatmeal and orange juice.
"Ooh, I love orange juice," the girl sitting next to Leeanna said.
"Me too," Leeanna agreed taking a sip. "Colton, this is Angie."
"Hello, pleased to make your acquaintance," Angie held out a hand and Colton shook it.
"Hey," He greeted. "How old are you?"
"11," Angie explained. "I'm a math buff."
"Really? I'm 11, too. I'm a photographic memory buff," Colton says. Angie laughs.
"You have a photographic memory?" A boy Colton hadn't noticed had been sitting next to him asked.
"Yeah, what's your talent?" Colton replied. He seemed a little young to be at the camp. 8-year-olds were the youngest here.
"I'm a tech whiz," He explained. "I'm Ted by the way."
"How old are you?" Angie asked.
"I'm eight, but most people think I'm younger," Ted explains. Colton could see why they would think that, he's a small kid.
"Welcome to the camp," Angie greets him.
"Thank you," Ted smiles. They drift into silence. Colton finds himself looking for Rhea. He sees her a few tables back talking with two boys. He wished he could say something to her, but she was so far away.
"Oh, I see my sister," Colton says. He meets eyes with Leeanna and she gets his meaning and turns to look at her.
"You have a sister that goes to camp with you. Boy, that sucks," Angie comments.
"I wish I had a brother or sister," Ted says.
"I have two little brothers, they're a pain in my butt," Angie informs them.
"Hehe," Colton laughs. Leeanna turns back around and subtly nods at Colton. She should probably try to find Emma. Her curly hair wasn't that hard to spot and it only took Leeanna a few seconds.
Emma, she thinks to her. It was quite a distance across the room, but Leeanna could reach it. Emma starts looking around worriedly.
Emma, look to your left. Leeanna thinks. Emma does and their eyes meet. Emma get's so excited and elbows the girl next to her. The girl waves awkwardly.
Leeanna smiles and waves back.
We'll meet up later, kay? Emma thinks, Leeanna nods and looks back at the group she was with. She would be spending the day with them, after all. No sense not getting used to them.
