Heathens// Twenty One Pilots
"Hufflepuffs can be brave ya'know. Just you wait and see."
Cedric's words stuck in my mind like glue. It had been hours since he had walked me to the Slytherin portrait, but apart from the conversation happening inside the common room, all that was on my mind was Cedric.
I was incredibly scared that his involvement in the Triwizard Tournament was going to end badly. Everything in me was telling me this was wrong. This Tournament wasn't going to be easy, and Cedric knew that. He was one of the only people I could trust here, apart from Professor Snape. I had friends, but not like Cedric.
Cedric wanted the glory and praise that came with winning the tournament, and I knew that. I knew his father well, and I knew Amos would want Cedric to bring Honor to the Diggory name. I, on the other hand, just wanted him safe.
I had my parchment and quill laid in front of me on the common room table, but I couldn't seem to write anything.
I watched as Pansy linked onto Draco as soon as she seen me look their way, which made me utterly angry. As if i'd ever want Draco.
I heard a screeching laugh and turned my attention to one of the couches by the fireplace, where Millicent Bulstrode was talking with Marcus Flint.
"Who even knew Potter and that half blood Diggory had the guts to enter?" Millicent laughed. Flint chuckled a bit.
"Dumbledore said people have died participating. 20 galleons says Diggory dies first" Flint raise.
I suddenly felt cold. I felt the blood in my body come to a halt, and my face go a ghostly white. Tears welled up in my eyes and poured over before I could even hold them back. I snatched my quill and parchment quickly and threw them in my bag. As quickly as I had felt my body go cold, it became burning hot with rage.
I practically ran up to Flint, whipping my wand out and sticking it against his throat.
"Say it again." I said through my teeth. My wand was still at his throat, and my free hand was grabbing him by his uniform. People around me stood up to see what was going on, I presume to see a hexing.
"Alya what are you talking about!" Flint yelled at me. I tightened my grip on him, and my wand.
"Say one more bloody word about Cedric and see if i dont get sent to Azkaban for using an unforgivable curse on you." My teeth were clenched, and my knuckles were white.
"Alya, let go of him." A familiar voice demanded. I kept my gaze on Flint.
"Leave me alone Malfoy." I sneered. He his hand around my wrist and tightened his grip on me.
"I said let go Callisto. Now" I flickered my gaze up at him. He locked his icy blue eyes with mine, and I could see a look of worry in them. I turned back to Flint and let go of his uniform, but not taking my wand off his throat.
"Next time i hear you've said anything about Cedric, i'll make sure Malfoy won't be there to save you." I sneered, pulling my wand away, and tucking it into my black cardigan pocket.
I stood up straight and realized nearly everyone in the common room had seen me threaten Flint.
"I didn't ask for your help, Malfoy." I said, repeating his earlier rant.
He took me by the arm into the corner of the room. Whispers filled the room but more students dispersed leaving Draco and I.
"What in the hell were you thinking Alya." He questioned, not loosening his grip on my arm.
"We're using first names now?" I questioned sarcastically. He furrowed his brow.
"Callisto I'm not fucking around. What the fuck were you thinking ay? Are you daft?" Draco said through gritted teeth.
"Did you hear what that git said about Cedric?" I questioned. He stiffened.
"You and Diggory, what are you guys?" He asked, abruptly.
"What is it to you?" I asked. His kept a straight face as he stayed silent.
"We're just friends Malfoy, not that it's any of your fucking business. Flint bet on Cedric's death. What was i going to do? Sit there? Wouldn't you do the same for Pansy?" Draco folded his arms and straightened his posture.
"No," He said dryly "I don't think I would." I let my body relax a bit, as tears welled in my eyes.
"Hey, hey." Draco said, pulling me into the corridor before the dorms so no one would see. Hey wiped a tear from my cheek with his thumb.
"No crying okay?" He coo'd. I laughed a little.
"Draco it's been years since we've even spoken decently and you think im going to let you tell me what to do?" I said, smacking his hand away from my face.
Before he could answer, I heard a voice yelling my name from the other side of the portrait. Draco followed me as I walked out into the Stairwell.
"Cedric!" I yelled. I pulled out of Draco's grip and ran into Cedric's arms. He picked me up a bit, and I buried my face into his neck. He smelled like fire whiskey.
"Alya what the hell happened? I heard you threatened to hex Flint!" He yelled as he put me down. Word really does travel fast here.
"You don't understand. Flint was talking about how people die in the tournament and he said he thinks you'll die and I got angry..." I wept. He pulled me into a tight hug.
"I promise I'm not going anywhere."
*Third person*
Draco watched as Alya clung to Cedric. Her dark hair swinging like silk as her face went farther into his neck. A twinge of jealously hung over Draco's head. He wanted to be Cedric. He wanted to wrap her in his arms and never let go. He wanted to tell her how miserable the past years without her had been.
Draco listened as Cedric consoled her, and hugged her tightly. He leaned against the wall, when he heard footsteps coming his way.
"Draco, where'd you go?" Asked Pansy, whining for the twelfth time today. "I missed you!" She clutched his arm, but he managed to pull away.
"Leave me alone Parkinson. I'm not in the mood to hear you whine." He said. He stomped away knowing he was leaving the presence of three people, but only thinking about one.
