Chapter 6 - the very last splatfest (part 2)

Kay's p.o.v
Hey.... you awake?
I opened my eyes tiredly at the sound of Deans voice. I had fallen asleep leaning against his shoulder.
He smiled "morning Kay"
I yawned "morning? but the sky's still dark"
He laughed a tiny bit "its technically morning.. its 12"
"Oh, if that's so what are we waiting for?!" I sprang to my feet and stretched quickly
"What do you mean? You're excited that it's 12?" Dean asked raising an eyebrow
"No! I'm scared that it's 12!" I jumped up and down
"I might not be able to play turf war if those inklings said anything but we still should have fun! It's the last splatfest for cod's sake Dean! We need to do something!!"
He laughed "I can understand you don't want to waste today. Alright we're going" he stood up and got the stuff from before. Though I was so excited that I didn't wait for him to get everything. Before he had the chance to settle his grip to everything I grabbed his hand and we ran to the areas with the stage, Callie and Marie were dancing like they always would at splatfests. The place was so much brighter and cooler than any splatfest I'd seen. Inklings were dancing, fireworks were booming the artworks aren't the place were amazing. I blushed so much from excitement I was near to crying "this. Is. so. Cool!!" She yelled

Dean looked around "I wonder- oh- there they are! Hey!"
I looked to where Dean was looking and I saw the others, Cloud, Matt and Dia walking up to us.
"Where did you two go after the turf war?" Dia asked looking confused.
"Long story, things happened but it's okay now she's happy" dean smiled still
I nod "yeah! Do you guys know who's winning yet?"
"Marie" Cloud said shrugging "it was pretty obvious from the start she was gonna win"
I noticed Dia, Matt and Cloud had glowstick type necklaces around their necks, and as if she read my mind when I thought that Dia gave me and Dean one
"Here! Everyone's getting one so we saved one for each of you!"
"Thanks!" Dean said "hey Kay, why not we head to the shops to buy some gear like we wanted to do before!"
"Oh yeah, we had planned to do that, okay!"
Matt smirked at us "you two are acting more like a couple everyday!"
Knowing he was being sarcastic we all laughed. Except one person...

"Dia?" I asked waving my hand in front of her face "you okay?"
She blinked "wha- oh yeah I'm fine just zoned out."
Matt spoke up again "while you two are shopping us three will go back to turf wars! See ya!"
The three of them walked away back to the tower as me and Dean went to the shops.
"So, what type of shirt would ya want?"
I looked around the shop "I dunno yet, let me try some stuff on and see their stats"
I tried a lot of stuff on but none seemed all too interesting but then I saw the SQUID GIRL tunic
"I must! I must get this!" My face lit up trying it on. It was a type of gear that would raise damage given to people in turf wars. It was only 2,000. I had loads thanks to Dia so I was able to get it.
Dean got the Corocoro hoodie.
When I saw he was gonna get it I looked at him "you have the money for that Dean? It's like 10K!"
He looked at me and smirked "of course I have enough! I may not be loaded with cash but I have enough for this!" He payed for it and I payed for mine.
We went to the other shops after that. In the end I ended up now wearing the SQUID GIRL tunic, striped beanie and blue slip-ons (or blue Plimsolls).
Not the best fashion style in the world but- could be worse.
The one thing I cared about at that point was Dean, me and him were laughing, joking and having fun. To think just a few months ago I thought, he would judge me just like everyone else. I wouldn't be able to laugh in public like this. I wouldn't be able to show my teeth in front of people, for everyone finds it unnatural. But, here I am... here I am

Dia's p.o.v
Me and the others were done with turf wars for a while.
We won every single match. It's the best feeling in the world when you win so many times. You feel confident.
Cloud and Matt were talking to each other so I went to walk around only to find people I know and chat with them. There was this one inkling boy, Sam, he was a very fresh inkling and everyone liked him.
He smiled when he saw me walking alone and walked over to me with his crowd of people "hey Dia, you win any matches?"
"A bunch actually!" I smirked at him
"How many?"
"Twelve"
"Oh sweet! See, this is why you're in the high class apartments! You're awesome!... now tell me sweetie... how's your new job?"
"Oh you mean getting the great zapfish back again? It's pretty fun for the most part. There's only been a few injuries"
"Well that's good atleast" he smiled. The other inklings seemed interested at the idea of me helping rescue the great zapfish. Then something came to my mind "well, I wouldn't be able to have this job if it weren't for Kay, just saying"
He lost the smile on his face "oh, the deformed inkling? She helped you get this job? Honey, please there's no way! Everyone know after all you're the one who told Callie and Marie about her! They probably didn't even care about Kay until you brought her up!" The sass on this guy's face was making me start to think of him a different way "you could just kick her off the team now that you're doing the job, you know..."
"I don't want to" I say calmly "she's a good fighter.. teeth shouldn't matter"
Sam stayed silent for a long time, even if it was hard to notice from all the talking in the background "I see.. I understand.. now anyways, why not you hang with us Dia?"
I shake my head slowly "not right now, I'm meeting up with someone soon, maybe later?"
He nods "yeah sure later! Cya then" and with that he was gone...

The person I was meeting up with was Kay herself. I asked her to meet up with me alone at a certain area at a certain time and I know she remembered, she always remembered.

There's a reason I didn't laugh when Matt said Dean and Kay were acting like a couple.. after all..

At that time I went to the area I asked to meet Kay in, and just like I asked she came.
Kay waved hi to be and walked over "hi Dia!" She smiles
"Hey Kay"
"So! Why'd you wanna meet with me during the splatfest again?" She tilts her head almost like a dog
"Because I wanna talk to you, like we use to! Just us! That's all!" I smile at her as we sit down together.
"By the way.. I heard what those inklings were saying about you in the elevator.. I'm sorry I didn't say anything" I said awkwardly to her, knowing that's for certain why dean made her run away from us before the splatfest started.
She nods "it's okay, I got to know Dean better after that! It was nice"
"Cool..."
she then sighs happily looking up at the sky. "This splatfest has sure been something huh, a lot of things have been happening.. haven't they?" I nod "yeah, they really have. But maybe that's a good thing! You got closer to Dean and all that!"
She nods back "you're right! Haha"
We talked more for a long time, so long I got sleepy after a while.
She yawned after a while "we are staying at your place right? We should head back now, the others are probably there" she says about to stand up.
I wanted to tell her something more but I couldn't, I kept my mouth shut, but I know what to do instead
I stood up too then pinned Kay to the wall hugging her, not anything more.. just hugging.
"Dia? You okay?" I can hear Kay ask me in a puzzled tone but I didn't answer I just kept hugging her. After a while she hugged back. Then everything went silent. All we did was hug, tighter and tighter.
After 5 minutes we let go "alright, now let's head back to my place" I laugh.
She laughs too "yeah. Let's"
We walk over to this bullet train type cart that looked like it could only fit around 4 people, I used to take these carts everyday to get to my house. We sit down and we start heading there to the high class apartments for the freshest squids.

Kay's p.o.v
I don't know why Dia was acting the way she did but it was nice. It was nice for all these calming things to happen after being super excited and worried and sad.
I saw all the apartment houses for the high class but they all looked more like mansions stacked on top of each other in rows.
It's such a beautiful place.
I saw the squid sisters house too, it was way huge.
The sidewalks were made with a thick glass and you can see flowing water underneath it.
So this is where Dia lives.. it's amazing..
we get out and head to her apartment which as I remembered it, C209.
Her house was also very beautiful. And much better than mine.
"Woah..." that's all I could say.
"Oh hey look whos also here" she smirks
I look over to the living room to see Dean and Matt play on a Wii U.
I couldn't tell what game they were playing....
Matt looked at us and waved "oh hey Dia and Kay, Clouds asleep in one of the guest beds by the way. If you guys are gonna sleep we will try to be a little quieter"
"But don't bet on it" Dean commented as he kept playing
"I'm staying up" Dia said "I'll grab popcorn and watch. Kay you can go to sleep if you want"
I nod and yawn "okay, I am pretty tired. You three have fun" I wave goodbye and walk to the guest bedroom, I thought it would be bad but all of the guest beds were king sized. Just what I expected to be honest...
I got into comfy clothes and lashed down on the bed, it was so easy to get comfortable.
I was trying to remind myself tomorrow we were heading back to the camp sites tomorrow. We were gonna fight again tomorrow. I didn't want to at this point. Today's just been so relaxing... I didn't want to go back to the fighting and pain. But we had to.
Oh well! Everything would be fine there even if it wasn't comfy. As long as everyone was okay..... because I cared for them all, and today showed me how much I did...
