Chapter 2 - something mind blowing

Kay's p.o.v
I woke up on my couch for some reason...
I felt really queasy and dizzy when I got up but it was fine I guess?
I got some food to eat and got new clothes on. They were pretty good stats.
Actually, I got a ton of money from the splatfest, good thing too! I was running out of cash!
,Huh, to think the last splatfest is soon...' I thought to myself.
When I got outside I was quickly greeted by a young inkling,
looked to be about a year or so younger than me...
She had yellow hair for now,
and she had a big smile on her face.
I didn't recognize the clothes she was wearing
But it was a white shirt with jeans. And she carried a splat roller on her back.
"HI!" She screamed at me
"Uh, hi... Do you have the wrong house?"
"No!"
"Then why are you here?"
"Callie and Marie asked ME to send you to them! Can you believe it?!"
I froze in shock. Callie and Marie... Want to see me?..
"Why do they want to see me?"
"They were talking to this one inkling" the girl began "and she said you were a good player in turf war and that you had the backwards fangs... They were interested and they want you to do something really important!"
"Dia" I said in my mind
"Hey uh who are you anyways?.."
"My name is cloud" she said excitingly. "No time for chat though! You gotta see the squid sisters!"
"R-right!" I stuttered.
We started heading to inkopolis my heart started pounding
'Why would Dia tell the squid sisters about me?... Why the heck were they interested?!' I said in my mind over and over.
When we got to inkopolis, they were just standing there... Out in the open!
Sure there was some inklings crowding around them but surely they would want to be somewhere private so they didn't get swarmed!
"Are you Kay?" Marie asked. Her voice was almost silent and was very calm
"Of course she is!" Callie said. Her voice was more loud and excited.
"Pff" Marie sighed "anyways... We've heard a lot about you..."
"Y-you have?" I gulped
"Yup..." She paused "and we think you and some others... Might be able to get the great zapfish back"
I gasped "it's gone again?!"
Callie nodded. "We haven't told many yet though... We will soon but... Yeah! You gonna take the job?"
"I- uh..." I stuttered
Cloud looked around and made sure other inklings stayed a good enough distance away.
Callie looked over to cloud. "Cloud would be joining you... And you can ask your friends to join as well! Like that inkling, Dia!"
I thought about it for a few minutes. Before then there was silence.
I finally nodded "okay!"
Marie smiled "that's great.... Be ready by tomorrow if you can.. We need that great zapfish back as soon as possible!"
I nodded and rushed off.
I ran so fast that most inklings couldn't see who I was.
I looked around for Dean. He had to know!

I found him just walking around and I jumped on him
"Get off me ya, kid!" He yelled, teasingly
I stuck my tongue out at him "I was gonna give you a job but..."
He looked at me "I'm listening"
I tried not to laugh "I was asked to get the great zapfish!"
His eyes grew wide "it's missing?! Again?!"
I nodded
"Wait... Are you saying you want me to come with you?.."
I nodded "yup!"
He was silent for a second
"Anyone else coming?" He asked
"There is this inkling girl named cloud coming and Dia maybe..."
"We should get more inklings... Maybe more boys" he said eagerly
"You're saying girls are weak? Aw, you're rude!" I teased
"Meh" he said "but yeah sure! I'll totally come!"
I squealed "yay!"
"Was that a squeal I heard?" He asked
I laughed "heh.. Yeah yeah it was"
I got off of him and ran off "gotta find Dia!"
I found her and she was talking to some people. She looked up at me and gave me a look that made me realize she knew what I am gonna say
"Let me guess" she began "you want me to join you?"
"Of course!" I yelled. "Thank you by the way..."
"No problem!" She said
The people she was talking to were glaring at me.
"Wait so Callie and Marie actually care about her skills? Were they freaked out about the backwards teeth?" A girl inkling cackled
I looked at my feet. I knew I should've come when she wasn't talking to anyone.
Dia glared at that inkling then looked back at me.
"They don't care about some teeth! I mean, who cares!"
I laughed a bit
The others shrugged, some laughed too.
"But... Yeah I'll join... If you need anyone else I can always introduce you to people"
"I'll find others on my own... But thanks" I replied shyly
She nodded.
I rushed off again.
Cloud bumped into me waving her arms.
"If you want to meet people just look around the plaza!"
"Oh... Right" I said laughing.

I ran off again. By the time I got there I got so exhausted I sat on a bench to catch my breath.
Sitting next to me was a boy inkling with purple hair, he seemed to be just getting out of a turf war.
"What's up?" He asked
"Huh?" I said not even noticing him at first.
"Oh uh- hi"
"You must be that backwards toothed inkling everyone talks about!" He exclaimed
It's kind of awkward when people say people called me the 'backwards toothed inkling'
but I didn't want to be rude so I kept my mouth shut.
"Have you been running a lot?"
"How'd you tell" I joked heaving still.
He laughed a bit "you're not as bad as people say"
"Heh..."
"Well.... That is a good thing..." He said
I talked to this inkling a bit, I didn't even know his name.
"Uh... What's your name?" I finally asked
"My name is Matt"
"Nice name"
"Thanks"
I wondered if he wanted to join me to find the great zapfish but... I hardly knew him. I only now met him but, it is worth trying!
"Hey uh.... Want to join me to find the great zapfish?"
"It's missing?" He asks
"Yeah..." I reply
"I uh-... Guess I'll join..." He says
"Ok cool... I think we are leaving tomorrow... If you want to talk more... We can met somewhere"
"Sure... Where?"
"I guess at the training area.... Ya know... That place where ya train for turf wars.."
"Oh yeah! The same place for where you test weapons... Except public?"
I nodded.
"Sounds good... What time?"
"4?"
"Ok"
I found it awfully weird how he is so cool to going and fighting at dangerous risks with someone he just met and some others.... But everyone is weird here! So....
I stand up and walk away. I have 4 people coming with me now... And maybe even more possibly. Now that I have 4 I might as well get ready for camping outside and fighting.
When I get to my house I clean it, cause I haven't done that in a while!
When I get done with that I get on my laptop. I watched some SquidTube videos then got in casual clothes. Which is a grey t-shirt and black shorts with soft sneakers.
There are no stats for them so they're completely useless for turf war
But they are comfy so I'll just wear them around.
I looked at the clock, it was 2:45p.m
I had to meet Matt soon.
I got something to eat, it was just cereal though.
After that I put my hair up into a ponytail again.
It kind of hurts to be honest... But... It's stylish!
I yawned and payed on my bed.
As stressed out as I was.
I was pretty relaxed right now.

I took a bit of a nap and woke up at around 3:55 p.m so I sprang out of bed and dashed out the door.
Walking down towards where I was meeting Matt was kind of peaceful.
The wind was cool and the skies were pretty.
When I got there it was 4:01 and Matt was already there.
"Yo" I said
"Hi..."
"Sooooooo" I said awkwardly
"Will we see octolings?"
I nodded
"Are others coming?"
I nodded again
"Who"
"Dia, Dean and cloud"
"Oh! I've heard of Cloud and Dia before! And Dean too... That's awesome"
"Heh"
"So what about sleeping"
"Bring a tent.. We might have to sleep in safe places in tents"
"Ok.. What about food?"
I shrugged "I dunno"
"Wait.... What happens when we get splat?"
I froze.
I haven't thought of that.
"I-I...." I began "don't think you come back... That's only in turf wars..."
Matt looked down "oh..."
Hopefully I didn't scare him...
He looked up again "then we gotta be extra careful, huh"
"Heh... Yeah!"
Just then I was hit by someone.
"I'm so sorry!" Someone ran up to me
"It's fine" I said wiping ink of me.
The girl inkling looked really scared about hitting me
but she then became relieved and walked away.
I was confused on what just happened, so I just looked at Matt and shrugged.
He shrugged back
"Well yeah" I began.
We talked more for a few minutes. Possibly an hour.
Actually 2.. When I looked at the time it was 6:34p.m and the sky was turning darker.
"I guess we should get well rested" I said. See you tomorrow Matt..."
"See ya" he started to walk away but then I asked
"Are we friends?"
He looked at me and smiled "yeah"
I smiled back and he walked away
I walked back to my own house and planted myself onto my bed.
I texted Dia before she went to sleep at 7p.m so I did too.
I was scared about tomorrow. And I hoped that what Matt said doesn't actually happen...
