PROLOUGE

As the weak morning sun casts its light upon me I can't help but feel like darkness itself has wrapped a never ending curtain of shrouded secrecy and depression around my body, leaking its poison into my mind and heart. I knew once and for all that I could no longer pretend. Pretend that somehow I'd get my fairytale ending.

Hauling myself from my bed I shuffled over to my mirror across my room, I pulled my fingers through the mass of tangled blonde hair that most days seem to have more of a life of its own than I do. I rub the sleep from my eyes taking in the dark circles beneath them and sighing at their noticeable appearance, not that it'd matter anymore, nothing would!

I slipped past the sleeping Tally curled up in the bed besides mine, her brown hair fell delicately around her face, her innocent face full of hope and carefree bliss something I hadn't experienced in a lifetime. I'd miss her, the one thing that always stayed constant in my dark life slept right before me, happy and content. But she'd move on, forget me over time, isn't that what happened after death? You grieve, move on and then push forward!

The world doesn't just stop because you have.

I padded barefooted out of the flat I shared with her and her family who so kindly took me in and closed the door silently behind me for what would be the last time. The cold morning air stung as it collided harshly against my skin, my hair flapped lifelessly in the wind and my eyes watered with salty wet tears I'd held onto for so long.

It felt good to cry.

As I reached closer to the bustling road full of early workers rushing to get to whatever their destination held, the sudden realisation hit me like a blow of rocks, breaking me down and crippling me inside. My life as I knew it was about to end through a choice of my own, how could anyone accept that? Here I was barefooted, in my pyjamas about to end the only life I'd ever be given.

In the distant the roar of a Lorry thundered down the road and my time was over, it was now or never, this was a perfect chance.

With all sense of reality draining from me, I took a step closer to the road my toes gripping the curb. With a last breath and the closing of my eyes I leapt out from the safety of the pavement to meet the death I'd so chosen for myself . . .
