Chapter 11:
Adrian's POV:
I stare at the sharp rock on the ground. I listen to the water flowing at the nearby river. I listen to the flies as they buzz around. I listen tithe footsteps coming towards me. Footsteps coming towards me? I look up to see Itzel and Chaz.
"Adrian, hey." She smiles down at me. Chaz whispers something in her ear. She giggles and nods. He looks at me before disappearing.
"Where'd he go?" I ask.
"He went to pick up something from the mall. He also wanted to give us some time to hang out." Itzel responds, sitting beside me.
"I see, so what's up?" I ask. Itzel shrugs with a grin.
"Nothing much! Just hanging with Chaz and avoiding the talk with daddy dearest. I swear sometimes he doesn't understand that I already know everything there is to know." She rolls her eyes. I laugh and pick some grass from the ground. "How about you?"
"Just lost my boyfriend." I say, looking down. Itzel pats my shoulder.
"It'll be fine. He's just another mistake. We all make them. I had a boyfriend once who was cheating on me with my aunt. Luckily I never kissed the bastard." I frown. Sadly I kissed the bastard that cheated on me.
"Its just... He seemed so nice. I don't understand why he cheated." I say. Itzel looks at me and then smiles.
"Maybe it just wasn't meant to be. Just you wait Adrian, you'll find the right guy." She grins. I smile back.
"Thank you Itzel, you're right. He wasn't meant to be." Then I feel a pang in my chest as I remember Zandin.
"Who am I meant to be with though?" I question, staring at a piece of grass. Suddenly, out of nowhere a pair of car keys land in front of me. I grab them and study them curiously.
"Hey!" I turn to see Xenith, that bastards brother. I want to be angry at him too, but he didn't do anything.
"Are these yours?" I ask, holding his keys up. He nods.
"A bird got a hold of them." He sighs.
"It seems like you're always losing your keys." I chuckle. He stares at me and then snaps his fingers.
"Your Adrian." He states.
"Adrian I am." I say, handing him his keys. He thanks me and then looks at Itzel who is staring at us with a glint in her eyes.
"I am Itzel, this guys guardian angel." She cracks a grin.
"She's kidding, we're just friends." I say, looking up at Xenith. He nods.
"Okay, well thank you again Adrian," he says, ruffling my hair. I watch as he runs back to the parking lot. I look at Itzel questioningly.
"What?" She just shakes her head with a grin and a twinkle in her eyes.
"Oh nothing~." Her grin widens.
"You're confusing me." I whine.
"So who was that?" She asks.
"Xenith, my ex's brother." She raises an eyebrow.
"Really? Do you have a picture of your ex?" I realize I do and grab my phone. I hand it to her and she looks at the pictures.
"Okay, Xenith is so much hotter than him." She remarks. I stare at her.
"Seriously?" She looks at me.
"What? Can't a girl compare two guys? If I was to compare them to Chaz, he'd beat them both." She purrs just thinking about Chaz.
"Well at least don't compare my ex with his brother." I say. She pouts.
