Chapter Fourteen - Lies

«Adam»

"Hey, Mom's done with break--" Charlie walked in, freezing when he saw Jace and I holding each other. "And I didn't see anything," he said, turning on his heels and walking out.

We sat there in silence, in each other's arms. Jace suddenly burst into laughter. "Oh god, his going to tell my parents!"

"Loser," I pushed Jace away, making his trip and grab me. We both fell on the bed, me know on top of him.

"So you two are dating!" I heard a girly scream, looking behind me to see Mary in the doorway. She came faster than I though she would.

"Mom! We aren't!" Jace yelled, pushing me to the side and standing up. "We just fell!"

"In love," Mary smirked, making Jace's face flush red. "Come eat breakfast," she yelled as she ran off, not giving Jace the chance to respond.

"You're mom is great," I said, sitting up and wiping my eyes.

"My mom is crazy," he sighed, turning towards me. He held out his hands, I took them and he helped me up. We stood close to each other, a heavy silence consumed us. "Are . . . are you okay?" he asked, placing a hand on my cheek, lightly running his thumb back and forth under my eye.

I grabbed his hand, gently pulling it off my face. "Okay? Probably never, but I'm better than before." I smiled, pushing past him.

"Adam," he grabbed my arm, stopping me.

"I can smell your mom's cooking. Let's go eat," I smiled, obviously trying to move on for the subject.

Jace finally gave up, letting me go. "Let's go eat," he repeated with a smile.

Both our smiles were fake.

. . .

"So, you finally calm down boy?" Rick asked as we sat at the table. Arms crossed and eyes glaring was how he sat staring me down.

"Yes, sorry about before," I said, trying my best to keep eye contact with Rick. It was like looking into the eyes of a bull ready to charge, you didn't want to look in, you didn't even want to be in that situation.

"Ya better be, now stay like that and talk to us," he said as Mary walked in with a plate of pancakes and a cop behind her.

They called the cops. They fucking called the cops!

I shot up, sending the chair behind me flying back. "You lied to me!" I practically scream, turning and running.

"Adam!" Jace and Mary yelled.

"Get'em," I heard Rick say, footsteps following behind me.

As I reached the door arms wrapped around me, lifting my straight off the ground. My ribs felt like they were breaking one by one and worst it was the cop who got me. "Let me go!" I screamed as I thrashed around to get out of his grip.

He slammed me against a wall, holding me with his body weight. I froze, my breath stopping. A weight on my back, so familiar it disgusted me. It was like he was behind me. It was like he was the one holding me down. It was like I was like I was five all over again. Powerless.

"Let me go," I cried, trashing around even though it hurt. God, what if it was him? What if I never got away to begin with. "STOP! Please! Stop!" I cried, hitting my head against the wall. I wanted to forget. Forget. Forget.

The last thing I could do right now was forget.

"Stop! Get off of him!" Jace yelled running up.

The cop just ignore him, pushing me up against the wall with all his strength as I tried to fight back. I kicked at his shins, trying anything to get away. Pain was coursing through my body, I was just thankful it wasn't a pain I was used to.

Jace tackled the guy, knocking him over and making me fall to the floor. My legs would support me, so I scrambled to the door on my hands and knees, trying my best to get away.

A hand on my ankle grabbed me and pulled me back. I let out a death defying scream that made even Rick freeze. Memories came back in wave. He always dragged me out of the closet, the only place I could hide and he would always find me. Dragging me out with me ankles, or coming in and closing the door if I was unlucky.

"Please, I'm sorry. Let me go!" I cried, clawing at the floor. I couldn't breath and I couldn't see past my tears. It was going to happen again.

"Adam!" I heard making me jump and thrash hard. He let me go and I stood only to fall to my knees again. I was out of breath, hyperventilating, and a few seconds away from passing out. Slowly, I made it to the door knob, and turned it. The door was locked.

I wasn't surprised.

"Adam!" He ran towards me, only it wasn't him, it was Jace.

My hand slid of the knob and my body gave out of me. I slumped against the wall, sliding back. Jace grabbed me, pulling me toward him and holding me up. I leaned against his chest, the sound of his heart beating him my ear. It was calming.

"You're okay," he said calmly, holding me tightly. Protective. "No one's going to hurt you. That person isn't here. No one's going to touch you."

I sat there, tears rolling down my face. I didn't say anything, I didn't want to and I couldn't.

"What the hell just happened?" Rick asked, a shocked look on his face.

Jace stayed quiet for a second, then sighed. "All I know is he was . . . attacked and getting pinned down makes him freak out." He explained carefully, giving hints without giving the whole truth.

"He was raped?" Charlie bluntly asked, making everyone turn on him.

I gave out a cold laugh, finally somewhat calmed down. "Something like that," I said, trying to stand up. Jace slowly stood with me, hands hovering over me ready to catch me.

I stumbled, my legs giving out again. I used the wall as support, holding myself up. Jace grabbed me, trying to help. "Please don't touch me," I said and he immediately let me go.

"I think we all need to talk," the cop said.

"Harold, I think you should leave," Jace said, standing between him and me.

"You and I both know that's not going to happen," Harold glared at Jace.

"Let's go to the living room and talk this out," Mary said, taking Rick and Charlie to the living room.

Jace looked at me, I just looked away, trying to stand without the wall. I let go and fell only to be caught by Jace. My legs were shaking, my whole body was shaking.

Jace had to carry my trembling body for me.
