five ; constant state of decay
GET YOURSELF A SIGNIFICANT OTHER WHO TALKS ABOUT YOU LIKE DEAN TALKS ABOUT ODESSA! (or if you're not into relationships or interested in romantic feelings, that's cool too :)) AND THIS IS PROBABLY ONE OF MY FAVORITE DESSA CHAPTERS (they are so smol and pure and adorable, but they also fucking slay and I can't get over it) ALSO, BE PREPARED FOR A CRAP TON OF EDITS AT THE END OF THE CHAPTER THAT I MADE BECAUSE I GOT HELLA BORED DURING MY RECOVERY
If Odessa wasn't sidetracked from the calamitous occurrences from Elizabethville, perhaps she would've acknowledged the distance she was inserting between herself and Sam. They infrequently spoke, only addressing each other if necessary and she despised the barrier she situated amidst their friendship. However, conceding their wrongdoings would mean recognizing the internal antagonism within both of them, and she wasn't prepared to undergo that conversation just yet. In spite of their intentions, she knew Sam and her were capable of disastrous actions, Elizabethville being the prime evidence, and she didn't want to invoke that side of Sam again. This side of him killed her only chance of remaining alive and made him steal the Colt and murder the Crossroad's demon.
She supposed if Sam wasn't aware of the consequences of his drastic actions she would've have been as infuriated and betrayed, but he disregarded her pleads and explanations and chose to behave irrationally nevertheless. In contrary, she understood why he was aggravated with her. She'd given him such a difficult time with his proposition on working with Ruby because she was a demon and she hypocritically worked with Casey. However, as she mentioned, Odessa and Sam refused to address the matter. She was okay with the lack of communication, and he appeared to be fine as well, it was Dean who wasn't okay with barricade between them.
Seconds before entering the victim's aunt's home, Dean emphasized the imperative discussion the three desperately needed to have. She didn't have the chance to explicate that there wasn't any conversation needed, but Gertrude Case, the victim's aunt, answered the door and invited them inside. "But I don't understand," Gertrude said, examining the photograph of Sheila. "I already went over all this with the other detectives."
Dean nodded once, glancing down at her as he swiftly formulated a lie. "Right, but we're with the sheriff's department, not the police department—different departments." Surely Gertrude wasn't foolish enough to believe Dean's lie, there must be some common sense inside her brain. Odessa gave a quick nod, a tight-lipped smile making way on her lips.
Sam intervened, noticing the look of bewilderment on her face. "So, Mrs. Case..." He trailed off as her expression altered entirely. Her furrowed skin softened, a sensual glimmer in her eyes. She quickly corrected him, emphasizing the word 'Ms.' with a sultry tone. She smiled, her green eyes raking Sam's physique hungrily. Sam swallowed and shifted uncomfortably. "Okay. Um, Ms. Case, you were the one who found your niece, correct?"
