October 1991

My room was completely dark, the only light source coming from my tv which was playing Nightmare on Elm Street. I knew this movie front to back, forward and backward but I still get the chills watching it. However this is the fifth movie I watched in a row. It is now 2:30 in the morning, I haven't heard from Cassidy since yesterday and I'm really nervous. I called and called and called but no answer. I even went to her house but nothing.

I smoke a cigarette and drink a beer, its Friday as well as Halloween and my parents are away so I took as much beer as possible with out being to obvious.

A few rapid knocks on my windows cause me to drop my cigarette, slightly burning my sweatpants. My heart speeds up and I'm ready to piss myself, some man I am.

"Jimmy open the fuck up it's cold and I think I might fall" said the voice I've been waiting to hear since yesterday. I flew the curtains open and pushed the windows and there was a drenched Cassidy, it was pouring rain out.

I backed up so she could hop in on my bed. She took a sigh of relief and plopped on my bed, throwing her arms back. "If you're wondering how, I climbed the chimney to the roof and lowered myself to your window sill." She said tiredly.

"Where have you been? Why are you climbing to my room at 3:00 am?" I said while getting my glasses and turning my light on. I gasped when I saw her appearance fully. Not only was she soaking wet she was covered in bruises."

"What the fuck happened?" I said, extremely concerned. Her dad used to hit her but he left a few years ago and her mom is never home and probably doesn't even care enough to even bother to hit her.

"Oh yeah I fell running over here, its uhm wet out ya know" she lied.

"Cas." I said sternly and she shrugged her shoulders.

"I can't Jimmy." She looked at her feet and I sighed, dropping the subject. I went to my dresser and tossed her a pair of my sweatpants and an old band t shirt to change into. I then left so she could change and so I could get some food for her and myself.

I really wish she wouldn't hide something like this from me. To be honest, I don't even know what to think is happening and I'm scared for her.

I went down to my kitchen and made her coffee and grabbed a package of Oreos. I was too tired and tipsy to make anything so this will do. By the time I get upstairs she is passed out on my bed, curled up and her face buried in my pillow. She looks so peaceful and innocent. Whatever inner demons were haunting her seemed to have disappeared.

I sighed and laid down next to her under the blankets, wrapping my arms around her as she shifted her head from the pillows to my chest. She stirred in her sleep when I kissed her forehead gently.

"Love you Jimmy" she muttered with her eyes closed.

"Love you too Cas. " I whispered before I fell asleep.
