Jackson was a complete gentleman since the moment they had met up in front of the school, and Rae loved it. He had come dressed in a dark green button up shirt, with some jeans and sneakers, so Rae didn't feel at all overdressed. He complimented her, saying she look beautiful. He had blushed after he said that, making Rae smile at how cute he was when he was nervous. She thanked him, and returned the compliment.
They had driven over there in Jackson's car, an old, grey Jeep Patriot. Jackson didn't say anything, just kept looking at her from the side of his eyes and smiling. Rae found that she rather liked it when he looked at her like that, though she obviously wouldn't tell him that.
The store was modestly decorated, a rectangular shape with the register nearer to the door and the yogurt machines and cups near the end, with tables scattered around and pleasant music playing. Near the register wa as bakery section, with cookies and brownies and other things that made Rae's mouth water. They nodded and said hello to the young woman at the register, then went to the cup dispensers. Rae had gotten a small, as she wasn't very hungry.
"Are you sure that's all you want? You can't fit much yogurt in the little ones." Jackson asked her as he grabbed a medium.
"I just had lunch not too long ago. Thank you for your concern though." Rae answered as she headed to the cake batter dispenser. The cookies and cream one is right next to her, but she still is a little surprised when Jackson's arm brushes against hers as he gets his flavor. She may have jumped slightly, but that's hardly anything compared to Jackson's silent reaction.
He felt his pulse start to hammer with nerves, wondering if this was too close for comfort for Rae, and also wondering why he never noticed her in that shirt before because the blue of it makes her eyes seem that much brighter. He looked down at her and noticed her jump ever so slightly, and felt guilty for scaring her.
"Sorry. The machines are packed pretty close together." He said as he moved his arm to pull down the lever that allows the yogurt to get past.
"It's no problem, really. I just wasn't expecting it, that's all." Rea says as she moves to the toppings bar next to the register. She scoops strawberries, chocolate chips, and a few sprinkles onto her yogurt as Jackson gets chocolate chip cookie dough yogurt quickly. He quickly scoops some chocolate sprinkles on there, and the puts his cup onto the weighing machine next to Rae's.
Rae pulls out a twenty from her pocket, and is about to slid it over before Jackson grabs her hand, stopping her. "No need, I got some money to pay."
"It really isn't a bother," Rae replies, "you already drove us over here, the least I can do is pay for the yogurt." Rae feels slightly uncomfortable with her hand encompassed under his, but in a good way. She worries quickly that he can feel the way her pulse speed up.
"No, I took you out here, it's my treat." Jackson looks down and realizes he still has his hand on hers, so he takes it off slowly as to not hurt her feelings.
"Really, Jackson, I can offer the proper monetary compensation." Rae said as she stepped a little closer to him to hide that fact that she was sliding the money to the cashier.
Jackson wants to paying any attention to the money, though. No, he was focusing on the fact that she was so close to him. There was barely a half foot of air between them, and he really wanted to get even closer. She was wearing a slim, black pair of glasses that matched her hair and defined the lines of her face in an artistic way.
He was staring into her blue eyes without any words. He was about to take another step towards her when the cashier interrupted them with the customary "Here is your change, would you like your receipt?"
