*Ellie's POV*
Turns out Janna got her wish. We didn't leave the next morning. I had a missed called from Alex-who had gone to Jasper's five in the morning hearing-when I woke that morning. Long story short they kept Jasper for another two years. They let Grace free, but without Jasper she wouldn't dare try anything; instead she's been invisible completely.
The bad news is it's two years later and he still vows to kill all of us. That's why tomorrow afternoon we leave for London to find our friends and get ready for whatever comes.
I guess that brings me to now. It's four thirty-two in the morning and I was just awoken by screaming. Screaming I knew all too well. Noah's.
Her room was all the way at the end of the hall directly across from Connor's, so it took a minute to get to.
But when I opened the door the sight just about froze me in place.
Noah sat slightly up with her back against the headboard, her hands gripping the sheets so hard the knuckled had turned white. Tears streamed down her face like a flood. She had stopped screaming and was now staring into space.
"Noah?" I sat on the edge of her bed. "Noah, honey, look at me." I spoke softly. "You're alright. You're at home."
She glanced at me for a brief second before letting out a sob and throwing herself into my open arms.
"Oh, baby, it's okay." I kissed her, brushing a few stray hairs back from her face.
"Mum?" Noah looked up at me.
"I'm right here as always." I tightened my grib on her. "I'm not leaving you. Ever."
She nodded, pulling away from the hug. "I'm sorry I'm such a pain at times." Noah wiped at her tears now. "I'm fine now." She paused. "Go check on Ellis before she wakes the neighbors." She sighed. "I think I scared her."
Until then I hadn't noticed Ellis was crying out for me. "Okay." I kissed her forehead. "Do you want me to get Connor?" Noah only nodded, a small smile appearing at the mention of her twin.
I smiled and left, leaving the door open. I went to knock on Connor's door, but he was already standing outside it.
"I thought she had been getting better." Connor said sadly, looking in the direction of her room.
"I know, sweety, but it takes time." I knew it hurt him just as much, or even more than it hurt her. Noah had always been Connor's everything. They were super close until the accident, which made them inseparable.
Connor sighed. "Go tend to Ellis. I got Noah." With that he walked into her room, and I went to check on the youngest Hendrixs child.*Connor's POV*
I found Noah curled up on her bed. Her covers completely in the floor. I picked them up and laid them neatly over the bed. "You got room for one more?" I joked.
Noah smiled a very small smile and made room for me.
The minute I sat down, Noah scooted back against me and lied her head on my shoulder.
"I think Mama should have had one else kid." I joked, trying to get her to smile.
My plan worked beautifully as she smiled a real smile. "Yeah, me too." She answered quietly.
"Another nightmare?" I inquired.
Noah yawned. "Yep."
I wrapped the arm that she laid against around her, hugging my younger sister, by two minutes, close to me. "It was just a bad dream, N, it can't hurt you again." I whispered. "Get some sleep we've got a big day ahead of us."
"Will you stay with me?" She asked, her voice barely audible.
"Always and forever." I kissed her temple. "You can't get rid of me easily."
"Good cause I don't want to." She soon was fast asleep.
It was my turn not to sleep. For the first time in awhile memories of that night ran through my mind. Noah sitting on the curb, her jeans ripped at the right knee and stained crimson. Her eyes puffy from crying.Noah looked numb to everything as a paramedic tried to move her, but she wouldn't budge. She wouldn't talk. A couple hours had come and gone before anyone discoved the car and called us.
Slowly I approached where my sister sat. Ignoring my mother who told me to stay put while she talked to the jakes.
The paramedic looked nice, but he was sounded stern almost mean. Like he was mad Noah wasn't moving, which made me upset.
Reaching them at last, the paramedic glanced up at me and frowned. "What do you want, kid?" He said gruffly, causing Noah to look up.
"I-um-that's my sister." I stuttered out.
"Yeah, well, maybe you can get 'er to move. All she'll do is bloody stare at me." He remarked.
"Noah." I spoke calmly, trying not to tear up at the sight of her. I could see the glass-from the window-sticking out of her knee clearly now. "Noah, you need to let him help you. You're hurt." I sat down beside her.
"Con." She whispered, her voice horse from crying.
"Yeah, it's me." I wrapped my arms around her.
Noah collapsed against me, gripping the front of my shirt tightly as if to keep me there.
"I need to get the glass out of her leg and bandage it before it sets up an infection." Mr. Paramedic stated. "If she won't move I'll have to do it here. It'll hurt real badly, so you'll need to hold her, lad." He ordered then went off to fetch whatever he needed.
"Noah, he's got to get the glass out now." I started. "I'll be here the whole time."
"Promise?" She spoke softly.
"Always. But it's going to hurt quite a bit so I need you to be tough."
Noah nodded slightly against me. "I can do it."
Moments later the man returned and Noah didn't scream or flinch once. Afterwards Mom had to go with the men to the hospital while we went home with Jan.It was quite literally the worst day of me life. It was also hard to believe it happened only two and a half years ago. Ever since, the only thing I've ever wished was that it was me in the backseat not Noah.
Noah didn't deserve any of this.
It was late and we did in fact have a big day ahead of us-we were going back to where Mom grew up-so maybe I should try to sleep.
I shifted slightly, lying flat on the bed, causing Noah to tighten her hold on me. "It's okay, N, I'm not leaving." I whispered, tucking an escaped piece of her hair back into her ponytail.****
Like normal no one mentioned Noah's attack the next morning.
The brunette herself was perfectly fine now. She was helping Ellis choose which stuffed animal to take with us.
Neither seemed to be able to decide between the purple bunny that wore a bowtie or the black and white kitten that had creepy reddish coloured eyes. The kitten always seemed demonic to me, like it was going to come to life and kill us all.
"I think the bunny." I suggested from the doorway.
Up until now the two hadn't noticed me standing there.
Ellis grabbed the bunny, and held it to her chest. "Let's go see Uncle Rafe!" She exclaimed excitedly, skipping off toward the front door.
Noah giggled at our youngest sister. "Come on, Con, you heard her." She chased after the blond-who was halfway out the door and into the corridor by now.
"Kids in this car, luggage in that one." Mom directed pointing to the different cars.
Nancy was riding with us and her parents had all the bags in their car.
Everyone soon piled into the car. Nancy and Ellis in the back, Noah and I in the middle, and Janna upfront with Mom. Jan was trying hard to get Mom to let her drive.
And just like that we took off for the great city of London, leaving the only home any of us had ever known behind.
