Chapter 4
"Today is the I&W convention. We all know what that means. Act friendly, think smart and teach well. Our interns need everyone of your help." Mr. Earl said a tad bit too loud.
"Time to play mother goose with the interns today babe." Tony said with his playful tone.
"And wount you just love that." Tracy said teasingly.
Tony gave her a look that made her laugh hard.
Tracy loved Tony for many reasons. One of them is he was good at making her laugh. He could even be her bestfriend here.
"I'm excited that we get to pick our internts this year. Last year's Intern&Worker's Convention, I got stuck with a shit-for-brains hobo who I still know thought he was in mexico."
Tony just waved his dismissing hand a pecked her on the cheek.
"Well, I guess you'll be stuck with the hottie you were talking to yesterday because here he comes."
And before Tracy could run, Carter was standing infront of them. Hands in his pockets, looking the usual. H-O-T!
"Hi." Tracy said and forgot for a second she was supposed to hate him.
A raise of the eyebrow of Carter shot her plan right back to track.
"This is my co-worker/party buddy/close friend Tony. Tony this is Carter. One of the new interns this year."
"Bestfriend, not close." Tony corrected. And that made Tracy smile. He indeed was.
"Nice to meet you Tony. Do you mind me stealing Tracy away from you for a just a sec." Carter said with his usual charm and Tony fell for it hook-line-sinker.
"Sure, hell, have her the whole day. She's wearing me out." Tony said while laughing.
"Jee, thanks babe!" Tracy said to Tony as Carter was pulling her closer to his working area.
"I want you as my worker and I want to be your intern." Carter said to Tracy and expected a no.
"Sure, why not. Come lets talk." Tracy said. "He's naking this too easy." Tracy mused.
Carter wasn't surprised but he didn't expect her to agree that fast. Something was up.
"Carter, can I ask you something.?" Tracy said almost immediately.
She wanted to remember how they met. 7 glasses of tequila and 2 glasses of scotch was a complete synonym with the memory-eraser drug.
Carter eyed her nervously and waited for her to ask.
"Can you tell me how you ended up in my bed the other day? I kind of had alot to drink and I don't remember anything."
"Sure!" He was relieved. He was expecting something much worse.
"Well?" She was insistant.
"Well, we met at a bar. A pretty boring one actually. No hot girls, well, except for you."
"Stop it!" Tracy couldn't help her smile.
"Yeah, anyways, I was with some friends drinking and I saw you looking stressed drinking alone and I thought i'll charm my way into your pants."
Tracy burst out laughing. The fact that he actually did made her laugh.
"Go on." She said trying to contain her laughter.
"Well, it was hard. You were so drunk so I called a taxi and kind of, you know, took care of you on the way to your place."
All humor was gone. Tracy was just staring at him. Carter continued.
"I'm not a stalker by the way, you were sober enough to tell me were you lived. I undressed you, which was fun and gave you some sleeping pills."
Her brain was doing a 360.
"Wait, so we didn't.."
"As much as I wanted to, I prefer my women sober when I sleep with them. Makes me feel like I earned it."
Before she could help herself, she found herself hugging Carter. He wasn't as bad as she had thought.
"Wait, so why were you naked when I woke up."
"I prefer to sleep naked."
Tracy left it at that and hugged him again. She was going to give this friendship a try.
But first she needed to learn more about him.
"So what's your story lover boy? What's with the whole 'no relationship thing.'? Highschool sweatheart broke your heart?"
"Uhm, something like that."
And with the look on his face, Tracy regretted saying that. She knew that was a chapter he tried to forget.
"I'm sorry for asking. How old are you? Where do you stay? Did you graduate?"
"It's ok but a bit too may questions. I'm 27, yeah i graudted with a degree in IT. I actually live across the street."
Oh? This was news. He was the perfect guy. He would have been the perfect boyfriend or maybe even husband if he wasn't a loverphobic.
"Wow, impressive."
"Yeah, I know." Carter said with a slow laugh. "What about you?"
"I don't have that many awards. I'n a graduate at NYU, i'm 26 and I like long walks on the beach."
Carter couldn't help but laugh.
Carter liked Tracy. He liked her alot. But he didn't know her too well. He wasn't going to let her know. He couldn't.
