Chapter 5

Days passed and Carter and Tracy grew fonder and fonder of each other.

Today was the announcement of who passed the internship.

"Listen up everyone. I shall be announcing the lucky 5 who gets to work here." Mr.Earl announced.

"Great." Tracy grumbled but she was really hoping Carter would be one of them.

"Miller Carvis, Freedom Parker, Becky Diamond, Carter Lenen and Ruby Errens. Those are the lucky few. Goodluck to those who didn't enter and congratulations to those who did. Now get to work." After saying that, he was walking towards Tracy.

"What could he want now." She thought nervously as he was approaching.

"Tracy, as you may have realised. They are new workers now and one of them would be taking your position now."

"What?! Are you firing me? I work my ass of everyday sir and I.."

"Hush, i'm not firing you. I'm promoting you. There's a new opening in New York. Better salary, bigger office. You've done an excellent work here."

Tracy couldn't hide her shock. She was supposed to be happy about this right? Then why wasn't she?

She knew she would have to leave Tony but the one person that came to her mind was Carter.

She knew the kind of guy he was but she couldn't help it. She liked him.

"Thank you Mr. Earl, but can you give me sometime to think about this. It's a huge change."

She could see the surprise in his eyes.

"Sure, but be fast about it. The offer stays until nextweek." He said then he left.

She was really excited about living in New York but what would happen to Carter and her?

Speaking of, Carter was walking towards her with an awkward gape.

"Guess I'll be seeing more of you." Carter said casually and left.

"Maybe" Tracy let her voice trail in an equal casual tone.

"What was with him today?" She thought. She was about to ask him when Porter Millis, the company cutie, grabbed her hand.

Porter Millis was a hottie, not the "damn he's fine" kind of hot but the "hormonal rage" kind.

Tracy didn't mind him too much because she knew guys that good looking only cause one thing. Heartbreak.

"Err? What are you doing?" Tracy said as she eyed their his hands in hers.

She liked what she saw.

"How about I buy you a drink?" Porter said.

Porter always liked Tracy. But he always felt like she wasn't that interested in guys at work but when he noticed Carter and her getting close, he had to have a shot at it.

"Why?" Tracy asked. This was strange.

"I don't know, to celebrate the new workers? I don't know, Tracy I've always liked you and..what I'm trying to say is, do you want to go out..with me?"

This was really strange.

"Uhm, I don't know Porter. Work is really stressful and.."

She couldn't just tell him that she had her eyes on another guy..Carter..

"Well, i'm always here when you change your mind."

Ironically, he gave her a kiss on the forehead.

Carter was acting strange today. He knew he had feelings for Tracy and he didn't like that.

He already had his heartbroken once. And it hurt, real bad.

But there was something about her. Her confidence was a major turn on. Her long brown hair complemented her smooth pale skin. He couldn't stop looking at her hazel nut eyes and her natural red lips.

And the fact that he had kissed those lips drove him crazy. He wanted more. She made him want more.

What was he doing? He had to tell her how he felt. He was about to go until he saw Porter kissing her on the forehead.

That seemed very platonic but Carter was surprisingly hurt.

"This is why I avoid this things. What the hell was I thinking? Girls are all the same. Damn." And he stormed off.

Tracy turned to see Carter's muscular back heading for the door.

"What is up with him today?" Tracy pondered.

She was going to go to his apartment and find out.
