Amy’s Diary
April 15,2010
Once again, they have me surrounded. I spent the night with my head under the covers listening to them make scratching noises. I believe it is coming from the closet, but Jimmy said they can’t be in the closet. I finally got up the bravery to check.
Inside my closet was my clothes, my shoes, and nothing else. I believe it is safe to sleep now.

I had a wonderful day today. Breakfast was pancakes and syrup. The kind that looks like a smiley face. I spent most of the day at the park with Jimmy watching kids play dodgeball. They never invited us to play, but it looked like fun.
It took a turn for the worse. My day was great but the monsters are back in my closet once again. I clinched my pillow to my body and did what Jimmy told me to. Shoo. Shoo monsters, get out of here. Still, nothing happened. The scraping sounds continued through the night.

I’m sorry that I haven’t written for awhile. I have been very busy. We just got a game system in the house and have spent many hours playing it. I can never get to the third level. Jimmy always gets there. It is funny how some people can do things automatically without effort.
The monsters have moved out of the closet! I was excited until I found out that their new apartment is underneath my bed. I can hear them chewing and hissing. Jimmy thinks that it is all in my imagination.

I’m mad. I got yelled at! It was around five in the morning when the monsters started throwing their party. I tossed, I turned, but I could not drown out the noise. The fear of getting eaten was more than I could bare. I woke up Jimmy and asked him to check under the bed for me.
He did, but yelled at me afterwards. He thinks I am getting to old for this “monster stuff.” Maybe he is right, but they scare me just the same.

No noise is good noise! I haven’t heard a peep out of my monster neighbors for about a week now. Could I have scared them away when I rearranged my bedroom? Maybe they decided another bedroom, or maybe another house would suite their tastes better. I hope that is true.
I have found myself a new cuddle buddy to help keep me calm. We now have a puppy that likes to sleep at the foot of my bed. Her name is Roxy. Now Roxy is a part of our family.

Uh oh. They did not move out. I hear them every now and then shifting around in the closet. I guess they like it better than the bed. I still hear them gnawing and scraping in the middle of the night. I am brave though, I do not seem as scared as I was a month ago. I guess some things just take time. Me and Jimmy seem to be getting along a little better than we used to. He now has a new skateboard. I watch him practice during the day. I must say, he is pretty good at it.
He also made some new friends. He hangs out at the mall with them, usually leaving me home. I hope he invites me to come along soon. I don’t like feeling left out.

They are getting worse. The noises are horrible. They are so constant that I have decided to name the monsters: Luke and Larry. Luke likes to chew and gnaw. Larry hisses and scratches. Sometimes I think they are fighting for the right to scare me.
I have stopped asking Jimmy for help. Every time he turns on the light, Luke and Larry hide. He thinks I am making it up. How can he be like that? Why would I make it up? I have a plan on how to catch them. I sometimes question why I would want to catch monsters in the first place, but I need to show Jimmy that I am not crazy. Wish me luck.

I have seen them! Luke and Larry did fall for my trap. I assumed monsters liked peanut butter. I like peanut butter, Jimmy likes peanut butter, so I figured Luke and Larry likes it too. I smeared it on a sock and waited on my bed with a empty laundry basket, ready to pounce.
They have glowing eyes and big teeth, they are very scary looking. When they came out from beneath my bed and went for the sock I threw the laundry basket over them. They were real fighters, I sat there for a good ten minutes before I turned on the lights. When I got off of the basket and hit the light switch, they ran away.

I now know they are harmless. I do feel a lot better since I seen them though. Jimmy finally got a good look at them as well. This makes me feel better. I like life a lot better when we get along. Sadly though, this will be my last entry into this diary.
I enjoyed writing it while it lasted, but Jimmy says if I write any more entries about our sons, he would divorce me.
