“You know preparing for the Slumber party like this – Just keeps taking my mind back to the party five weeks ago.”

Alice reminisced, taking the girls mind back to the quite memorable birthday party of Alex and her twin brother. The Soiree was supposed to kick-off in the next hour, and she and the girls – Ariel and Alex sat in the latter’s room discussing as they awaited the arrival of the other participants.

Alex’s facial expression turned sour, as she sat on the bed – legs crossed and her back rested on the bed’s woodwork. Ariel was right across her on the bed also, with the same posture whilst Alice occupied a seat facing the center of the bed.

“It’s a ‘Soiree’ not a slumber party.” Alex corrected. “You know it isn’t cute anymore when girls begin to make that mistake. BTW, I hate reliving the memories of that party. It was just a very turbulent one.”

“You don’t have a point.” Ariel interrupted, as she toyed with the hems of Alex’s bed-sheets. “Every party is always turbulent. And It was a really memorable one even though I ended up not hitting my target.”

Alice chuckled. “Aww, you’d get another shot at Nathan, soon. Let’s just hope another event brings us together again.”

Ariel grimaced. “Uhm, I don’t think so. He was just a passing fancy, I guess. I don’t think I’d be drawn to him if we meet again. Besides he made it ‘pretty’ clear that I was just a little girl to him. I’m done crushing on seniors for now.”

Alex chuckled, cracking her knuckles. “Yeah, but Castle boys are so stupid anyway. Not to even mention our mates. Anyway, I wouldn’t bother myself about such thing since I clearly have a control over it where many don’t.”

“We don’t need your superiority complex crap today, Alex.” Alice groaned, sitting up. “BTW, you never told us what went down with your mom later that day. Seeing as you still have your skin on – I’d suppose Joey’s threats weren’t literal.”

Alex giggled, as she cleared her throat and altered it to that of a more elderly person. “I’ve told you, ‘dear’ – there other ways you could correct people and make them see reason without insulting them or being unnecessary blunt. Especially in the case of your family people.” After the short mimic of her mom – which invoked a short laughter in the trio, her voice altered back to its default. “Seriously, that woman keeps on acting all righteous when she hasn’t clearly sat down with Tracy for more than a minute or sat in a class with a bunch of Castle boys. She probably won’t get pissed anyway, it’s not like she’d understand half of what they’re saying.”

“So she didn’t punish you?” Alice grinned, amused at the jab. “You were quite sure she was going to be furious?”

“That’s the great thing about my mom,” Alex smiled good-naturedly. “When she is furious she is still clear-headed and calm like any person when they aren’t furious. She grounded me for a week, though – but it’s not like I’m an outdoor person who goes out every night. I’m pretty much grounded every day of my life.”

“I thought she was going to descend on you with a whip or something,” Ariel jeered on. “With the way Joey said you were crying – Alice would disagree and say that my earlier statement was a massive understatement. And that she was probably going to call in the Calvary to deal with you.”

Alex’s lower jaw dropped open. “For Christ’s sake, my tears weren’t that intense. And it wasn’t as a result of the fear of what my mom would do to me. My mom is just too nice for her own good. I had abdominal pain that day, and for some reason it was more painful. But of course, Joey had to go about running his mouth about how scared I was about my looming punishment.”
