We walked to Jaylins house, which was a couple blocks away. Along the way, we stopped to get icecream. I got rocky road and Jaylin got mint chip. We licked our ice cream all the way to her house. I love Jaylin's house. it's right by the beach and you can even hear the waves crash along the shore from it!
The huge awning that is over the house provided shade for my icecream. we walked inside and Jalylins parents sat on the sofa in their uptight, button downed clothes. You see, Jaylins parents were big CEO's of some big company, and were very proper and uptight. They didn't really like our whole hippi surf thing. Knowing this, we were very careful with our words.
"Hello darling!" exclaimed her parents.
"Hey." she replied.
"What are u girls up to?"
"Nothin much. Well actually, I have an important question to ask you." Said Jaylin warily.
"Ok" they replied.
"I need to go to Hawaii, to fulfill my dream of becoming a pro surfer!" exclaimed Jaylin. it all just flowed out like a waterfall. I could literally see the words dripping out of her mouth.
"Jaylin, your not going to be a surfer for a living!" yelled her dad.
"And why not?!" screamed Jaylin.
"Because your going to Harvard, then become a lawyer, and make good money and a happy family!" her dad explained. His hands were clenched in fists.
"Well that's not what I want!" said Jaylin. Tears welled up in her eyes. I could just taste the salt.
It was so awkward just standing there. Her mother looked dissapointed.
Jaylin stormed out of the house. I ran after her not knowing what to do.
"I just can't believe them! they don't even care about what I want, it's all about what they want.
