"HA, I GOT YOU!" "
Exclaimed a very triumphant Ryoga. As he put out the flame in his hand, he looked at the damage he inflicted. "Though I think I may have gone a little over board with the fire. The walls were burnt to a crisp, the paint job was completely destroyed, the floor was still scorching hot and a thick cloud of smoke made it impossible to see.
IDIOT! You burned her!"
Shouted a very distressed Chihiro. Her? Who's her? Kyousuke thought, using his ice powers to create a pathway across the lava-like floor. The smoke was making it extremely difficult for Kyousuke to find his sister. "Kyousuke..." he turned around to face where that whisper had come from. "Kyousuke!" Suddenly, a very distraught Chihiro came dashing toward Kyousuke, along with a trial of ice identical to his. She grabbed her little brother and pulled him into a strangle-like hug. She held him for a few moments before letting go, running towards Ryoga and Akane. Kyousuke stood there, traumatized. Never has he seen his sister so shaken. "KYOUSUKE! Get out of there!" Snapping out of his shock temporarily, Kyousuke dashed toward where his siblings were.
"Stand back" Akane warned, standing behind a machine that was bigger than her. A giant air filtration system, Kyousuke noted, while Chihiro and Ryoga had no idea what their sister was thinking. Akane flipped a switch along with a wide selection of buttons, the machine coming to life. The smoke was quickly sucked into the filter, and clear air was coming out of the other end. As the smoke cleared, Chihiro looked very anxious. "Yo, sis, come on, I couldn't have hurt you that bad" Ryoga said apologetically. "Idiot..." Chihiro whispered, "you couldn't hurt me even if you tried and my hands were tied behind my back". "Wow, geez, then what's wrong?" He asked, his hair flaming because of her last remark. "There was someone else... a child..." Suddenly alarmed, All four of them waited impatiently as the fog was sucked into the filter.
"I think I see something!" Kyousuke said, and the tension seemed to decrease amongst the four of them. And Kyousuke was right, they did see something. But it wasn't human.
Standing a few meters away from them was a green glowing ball of light. It was composed solely of energy and light, Kyousuke admired, feeling very much attracted to the emerald green light. Once all the smoke disappeared, the green ball remained intact. Then, the power started to fade, disappointing Kyousuke. Soon, they were no longer looking at an energy/light ball, they were all looking at a humanoid figure that glowed emerald green. It walked toward them, hands swinging on its sides. "So," a girls echoing voice said, "who threw that fireball?"
Akane, Chihiro and Kyousuke backed away, very much afraid. Ryoga stood there, feeling betrayed, "Uhm, that would be me..." the figure loomed over him, now glowing a very dangerous looking shade of red. "Die"
The figure produced a sword that sliced straight through Ryoga's gut.
"What a pain" she said, removing a blood stained weapon from a now limp Ryoga. While his body remained unmoving, the green girl looked at the other three Todoroki children that stood before her. Whilst the girl cowered in fear, Kyousuke stepped forward. His eyes blazing, literally, and filled with fury. "No one" he stated, "messes with my family!"
Producing a sword of his own, Kyousuke charged forward. "You..." the girl said quietly, "are all annoying"
As Kyousuke swung his sword, the green girl jabbed, aiming at his chest. Using the force of his swing, he stopped the green sword from impaling him. "What a pain..." the girl muttered, "just die" And she continued her attack, restlessly delivering blow after blow at Kyousuke's face and chest. Kyousuke was not attacking at all, he was too busy blocking her attacks to formulate his own. "For Ryoga..." he told himself aloud. "FOR RYOGA!" With that battle cry, he swung his sword, desperate to land any blow to weaken his opponent. And he found an opening. Triumphant, he thrusted his weapon forward. Only, things didn't play out like it did in his mind. Stab the girl, avenge Ryoga. It went more along the lines of: Try to stab the girl, get your weapon taken over by a green light, sword starts attacking its creator, and it's game over.
The girl looked at him in disgust. "Why?" She asked in an emotionless voice, "why try so hard to avenge a dead person?" Kyousuke looked at her, and for once, he didn't see a lethal killing machine. In her eyes, he saw a scared and confused girl. "I'm not trying to avenge him" he realized, putting out his hand, "I'm trying to save you"
"Save... me?" She asked questioningly. Though he thought that the plan he had was about to fail horribly, the girl put the swords away. One disappearing and the other falling to the floor with a loud clang. Hand still extended, Kyousuke stood there for just a second more before running toward her. Producing another sword, he came with the intent to kill.
Just as his weapon was about to make contact he stopped himself. Because he saw something else in her eyes. He could see another girl. Raven black hair and fair skin, her brilliant green eyes covered in tears. "Yes... save me, my hero" she pleaded, "kill me". Dropping his weapon, he reached out with both arms and pulled the girl into a hug. "Forgive me" he told her, "I can't do it"
Slowly, the green glow began to fade away, revealing the girl he saw, who was around the same age as him. So this is the real you. Exhausted, the girl collapsed in his arms. He held her tightly, making sure she was ok. "Don't worry" he assured the sleeping girl, "I won't let you go"
"OOOO, Prince Charming" taunted Ryoga from the background. He looked like he had been super charged with positive energy, and very much alive.
"How-" Kyousuke stopped himself, looking at the glowing green string that connected Ryoga's hand with the girl's. "You saved him" Kyousuke said in awe, still hugging her very tightly. "Bro, that's romantic and everything, but she looks like she's gonna suffocate." Kyousuke set her down on the floor, reluctantly letting go. She coughed a few times before realizing she had company.
"Uhm, hello" She said, looking very relieved. She looked at Kyousuke and took his hand, "thanks for saving me." And she gave him a smile that made him blush. "Anyway," Akane said, interrupting their moment. "My name is Todoroki Akane" she said, setting out her hand for the girl to shake. "So you were the siren-sounding damsel in distress?" Confused and enraged, Akane attempted to strangle her, Chihiro and Ryoga trying to stop her. "I'm Chihiro" Chihiro announced, "and that maniac over there who tried to roast you alive is my idiotic twin brother Ryoga." "Wow, thanks for the intro" Ryoga mumbled.
"My name..." the girl began. Akane, curious, stopped struggling to listen to what she was about to say. "I-i-it-it's..." she stuttered. Knowing that she was reluctant, Kyousuke grabbed her hand and said gently, "I'm Kyousuke, it's nice to meet you-"
"Ayumi" she said finally, "My name is Ayumi." Smiling, Kyousuke helped Ayumi to her feet.
"Nice to meet you, Ayumi"
