Everything about Alexandria felt surreal to Beth.  The people reminded her of herself, Maggie and her father before the farm fell.  It was as if they had their head in the sand or their minds up in the clouds.  They lived in denial of what the world was like now.

They weren't the only ones in denial.  She expected, after the kiss they shared, that Daryl would never let her out of his sight.  But he pushed her away.  She wasn't sure why.  She had her assumptions though.  Fear of losing her again.  Fear of getting close to her.  Fear of what others would think of them as a couple, given their age difference.  Daryl seems like the type of person that doesn't give a fuck what people think of them, but Beth knew Daryl cared very much of people thinking he's some white-trash low-life.  Beth's assumption that Daryl had been arrested was proof enough.

"Daryl, can we talk?" Beth asked.

"Goin' huntin'," he replied grumpily.

"I wanna come," Beth told him.

He must have realized he had no way out of it, so he shoved his bag of arrows at her.

The silence was deafening as they walked.  Beth knew they had to be somewhat quiet, but not this quiet.  So she decided to fill the silence with some idle chatter in hopes of getting him to open up to her.

"The people here are strange," Beth said.  "I bet most of them never even seen a walker."

Daryl grunted but didn't reply.

After some more talking, Daryl snapped at her.

"We're huntin', not sittin' around in a coffee shop!  If you wanna shoot the shit, so back and talk to yer sister or Carol!" Daryl said angrily.

"Why are you bein' like this?!"  Beth snapped back angrily.  "You afraid to let me get close to you?  You afraid of the group knowing you wanna do little Bethy Greene?  I don't care Daryl!  I WANT YOU!"

Any resolve that Daryl had was non-existent after that.  He through his bow onto the ground and roughly pushed her up against a nearby tree.  If Beth Greene wanted him, he was going to give her what she wanted.

People looked at them strangely when they walked back with their hands clasped together.  But by then Daryl didn't care.  After what they have been through, they deserved to be together.  After all, why should they waste their second chance?
