As Daryl looked around Alexandria he couldn't help but feel angry. He knew, out of all of them, Beth deserved this. She belonged here. Not him. Not Carol. Certainly not Maggie, who seemed to think she was dead already and once she found out she was alive, after shedding a few tears, you'd never even guess she just lost her sister.
Now they want him to move on. Find another girl, and forget.
'Fuck them,' Daryl thought bitterly.
He didn't want to move on. All he wants is Beth. He didn't need anyone before. And now, now he'll honor Beth by protecting everyone and trying to be the last man standing. And then, when he takes his final breath, he could take solace in the fact that the woman he loves would be in his arms once again.
He knew Rick understood. Rick lost Lori. He gets it. He's one of the few that doesn't push him. He knows the others mean well. But they don't get it.
And he hopes they never do. Because he wouldn't want anyone else in his family to feel the pain he's feeling right now. For Carl to lose Enid, the first girl in this wretched world that he had fallen for.
Daryl had taken a look over at Sasha and felt a pang in his chest for the girl. Losing her man and her brother in such a short time seems to be too much for the woman to bear.
