HUGE APOLOGY FOR THE VERY LATE UPDATE.
I HOPE THIS IS NOT DISAPPOINTING.
ANOTHER ONE WILL COME IN A FEW DAYS.

WRITER'S BLOCK GOT ME GOOD.
BUT, HERE YOU GO.

"Two weeks 'til Halloween and you don't have a costume yet?"

Autumn shrugged her shoulders beside me with a chuckle and said, "I didn't think I had to dress up this year."

Ellie grunted at her. "You're friends with me so you're gonna have to, you idiot," she scoffed. Riley placed a hand on her shoulder and she shrugged it off aggressively while giving him a deadly stare. He backed off immediately. She then averted her gaze to me, softening them a little. "What about you? Do you have one?"

I contemplated on lying or being honest, seeing as how she reacted with Autumn. Ever since I turned twelve years old, my mom and I did not have the time to even think about costumes and such. No trick or treating for me. We instead used it as a day to carve pumpkins and watch Disney movies. Scary movies were not her forte either. We basically scrapped the holiday for us.

I tapped my forefinger on the table and bit my lip. Ellie's intent gaze was making me feel nervous. "Well, I have an idea. Does that count?" I said after a moment, even though I absolutely had none.

Her mouth curved up a little. "Well, that's better than these two hooligans," she stated, which earned a groan from the other two and a giggle from me. She shushed both of them and requested for Autumn to get her notepad out. Autumn looked up at her, confusion etched on her face.

"Why mine?" She asked hesitantly, shifting on her seat. I noticed because her leg parted from mine, the warmth dissipating from my thigh.

"Does it look like the rest of us carry a notepad around?" Ellie quipped back, irritation laced in her voice. Autumn pursed her lips and made a smacking sound. She was definitely giving in.

"Fine," Autumn sighed out, slowly pulling her notepad out along with the small pencil. She turned away from me slightly but my curiosity made me crane my neck up and over her shoulder. Sadly, I saw nothing exciting since she had already flipped to a new page. "No looking through, aight?" She instructed before sliding it towards Ellie.

        "Why, hiding something?" Ellie teased.

"Maybe," Autumn laughed uneasily. It surprised me how nervous she seemed about it; which was a first. Her confident front was not up. In attempts of comforting, I placed my hand on her knee. My mouth curved up unwillingly when I felt her relax a little.

Ellie wrote on Autumn's notepad slowly and muttered, "This is so small."

"Could've used a napkin," Riley quipped back, which he should not have done. A thud resonated on the table and Autumn started chuckling.

"Never annoy E, Riley," Autumn stated as Riley slid away from Ellie with a hand on his side.

"For a small person, she's freakishly strong," Riley said, earning him another jab on his side. At that point, he stood up and squeezed himself to our side of the table. Being squished between the two did not feel comfortable, though it did get me closer to Autumn than intended. A warm feeling surged through my body.

A clutter of dishes had me looking up. Callus were placing the beverages we ordered on our table. He looked disappointed. "I can't believe I'm working right now," he expressed to us while scrunching his nose.
