Yo! Wazzup? I just wanted to say, the line in here that Aspen speaks is not mine, all credit to Kiera Cass on that one! Now go on and read chapter 6!

"Hey Ames. Sleep ok?" Marlee was on the couch, looking at her phone.

I rubbed the sleep from my eyes. "Uh, yeah."

"Good, go get ready. The pack is coming over at 7:00 for a movie night. Don't want to have bed head when they do!"

I looked at the stove clock. 6:43.

I went into my bedroom, threw on my favorite blue GAP hoodie and some grey joggers that I brought in my bags, which I still haven't unpacked.

I brushed through my hair and threw it up into a messy bun on top of my head.

Perfect, I'm ready.

I walked over to the couch and sat next to Marlee, who was typing furiously into her phone. I took out my own and started to scroll through social media.

We did this for about 5 minutes when I heard a knock at the door.

"I got it." I said, standing up.

Marlee nodded and put her phone away.

I walked to the door and opened it, only to reveal Celeste, Isaac, and I'm pretty sure a girl who's name was Kriss or something like that.

"Hey guys, come on in." I stepped to the side so they could get in. We all sat at the couch and started chatting before I heard another knock on the door.

This time, Marlee stood to go open it.

"Cmon in!" I heard her say.

I turned only to see Carter and Maxon entering the dorm.

I made a face and Maxon saw. He just flashed me a smile and sat on the couch diagonal from me.

"Ok, I'll get the lights. What movie should we watch?" Mar said, getting up to turn off the lights.

"Oh I know!" Carter said, pulling Marlee to sit next to him on the end of the couch and grabbing the remote.

Carter flipped through a bunch of movie covers until he found the one he was looking for.

Kriss squealed, but not the happy kind. "Not a scary movie!!"

Celeste calmed her down. "Calm down Krissy, it won't be that bad."

Even though she said that, she huddled closer to Isaac and he just put and arm around her and sqeezed her closer to him.

I didn't really want to see the beginning because I personally hated horror movies.

"I'm going to go make some popcorn." I said, getting up.

To my surprise, Maxon said, "I'll come with you."

I shrugged and made my way to the kitchen, Maxon trailing behind me.

I started to get the popcorn bags out when Maxon grabbed my wrists and turned me to look at him.

"America, listen to me. I'm only going to ask this once, so just give me a chance." He waited until I nodded before continuing. "Why do you hate me?"

Maxon looked into my eyes, staring into my soul. I stuttered to find a reason why I hated him. Why I didn't want to be around him.

I couldn't. And that was when I realized,

There was no reason.

"I just-" I had to think of something to tell him. "I-"

The truth.

I sighed and relaxed a little, realizing how tense I was. "I honestly don't know why I hate you. Just a feeling I guess."

Maxon looked at me then did the most unexpected thing.

He hugged me.

I was surprised at first but then hugged him back.

"I really wanted to be friends with you, but you kept running away. You shouldn't judge people on first impressions." He whispered into my ear, Before letting go and putting the popcorn into the microwave.

I just stood there, dumbfounded.

"I- I'm sorry." I said.

Then I did the most unexpected thing.

I hugged him.

Maxon just laughed and hugged me back. Then we both let go and made popcorn.

Flashback

"Aspen, stop!" I giggled, swatting at Aspen playfully.

"But you're just so beautiful, I don't want to stop." Aspen said, picking me back up and running around with me in his arms.

I laughed. "What does beauty have to do with any of this?"

Aspen stopped, put me down, and said, "Because thats what you are, America Singer. Beautiful."

He bent forward, bringing his face closer to mine, his emerald green eyes sparkling. Then our lips met and he kissed me slowly.

I put my hands in his hair, brushing through the tangled black mess. He had his arms around my waist, pulling me closer.

After a second we broke away for air and I giggled. Our foreheads met and he spoke, "I love you America Singer. It's just the way it is. The sky is blue, the sun is bright, and Aspen endlessly loves America."

I smiled at him and kissed him again, this time much more passionately.

End of flashback

I shook my head, not knowing why I remembered that particular thought.

After about 5 minutes Maxon and I went back into the tv room with the popcorn and set it on the coffee table. Celeste and Isaac were wrapped up in a blanket, sitting on the floor in front of the couch, eyes glued to the screen. Carter was laying on the couch with Marlee in his arms, their eyes glued to the screen as well. Kriss was just over by herself on the other couch laughing her head off.

And I thought she was scared of horror movies.

I went and sat down on the least empty couch and Maxon sat down next to me. He put his arm around me and I flinched.

"Sorry," he muttered. "It's a habit."

"It's fine. Just don't try anything, pretty boy." I teased.

He laughed silently then turned his attention to the movie. I did the same.

We watched for about 7 minutes before a creepy Doll started chasing the kids around with a chain saw.

I buried my head into Maxons chest. He just pulled me closer. I breathed in his smell. His cologne smelled like vanilla, which was odd for a boy, but it worked perfectly for him.

As the movie went on, I couldn't help but think.

Maybe this isn't so bad after all.
