so i am doing a paddle for the next 6 days. yesterday i travelled for 8 hours for 32 km.

this is a lock. it keeps water.
--2----| ----1----| ------------ this what it looks like. the sticks are the lock. the dashes are water. so what they do is in water area 1 they drain the water so that it is level with the water body (river/lake/etc). then the gate closes. then the water is drained from 2 to one so that they are level then that lock is opened.
