"attention students:" the woman on the loudspeaker said in a monotone, as if she hated her job. students in most classes were quiet, while others ignored the woman.
"as most of you guys know, there's a dance for seniors tonight. seniors only. the seniors may bring dates from other schools and classes, as long as you don't get inappropriate inside the building. if anyone is seen grinding or doing anything sexual besides kissing at the dance, you will be removed. keep in mind: senior prom is in 6 months, so rsvp. alright, cool. okay, go on with homeroom." the woman finished her speech, and immediately students were gathered around each other, talking about their dates for the dance.
mike, and vic were in their homeroom, ignoring their teacher calling for attendance as they texted the group chat with the other boys.
tony, kellin, and jaime were casually waiting for homeroom to be over when they received a text from the fuentes brothers, talking about ditching the first few periods. they all agreed to meet by the bleachers in 10 minutes.
"so, are you going to the dance?" jaime asked, sitting on the bleachers and leaning onto the metal stairs behind him.
no one was at the football field or bleachers, seeing as class was still in session.
kellin was too stressed to talk about the dance. for some reason he can't quite explain, kellin expected vic to ask him to the dance. he didn't know why, he just expected the mexican to ask him.
vic never did, and that resulted in kellin being on edge for the whole two weeks.
kellin knew vic wasn't going to ask him, but a small piece of his heart was still hopeful.
"not sure yet." mike said, biting his lip and looking at tony sadly.
the raven haired boy reached into his bookbag and pulled out a cigarette sliding it between his lips and lighting it with the matches in his back pocket.
"well, smoking, huh? didn't take you for that type of guy." mike said with his eyebrow raised, taking the cigarette pack from kellin and pulling a cancerous stick out for himself.
kellin shrugged and slowly let the smoke from his cigarette dance out of his mouth, all of it disappearing.
vic grabbed the cigarette from the taller boy's lips and put it between his own, sucking on the stick before putting it back between kellin's lips.
"kellin, are you going to the dance?" tony asked, his eyebrow raised at mike when he lit the end of the cigarette.
"eh, i don't know. i'm not really a party person." kellin said, pausing to take a drag.
"you?" kellin asked tony, letting the smoke out of his mouth as his eyes were closed. the tall boy leaned onto the metal seats behind him as he closed his eyes and listened to the other boys speak.
tony looked at mike in a weird way, as in a 'what do i say?' kind of way.
"i don't have a date." tony said quickly, biting his lip as he looked up at mike, who was looking tony up and down lustfully.
vic seemed out of focus, like he wasn't in the same mindset as the other boys.
kellin seemed to be the only one to notice, seeing as the other boys were talking about what they would call their first album if they were in a band together.
