"Where'd Mina go?", asked Jungkook as he came back with drinks in his hands.
"She was being rude to me and stormed off.", said Sohyun rolling her eyes. "But thanks for the drinks."

Sohyun got up and kissed Jungkook on the cheek.

"Public displays of affection are banned in my cafe.", said Jino walking towards our tables.

He pulled out a chair across from me and began to untie his apron.

"Aren't you still working?", I asked.
"Yes and no. It's break time.", said Jino. "Also... where'd Mina go?"
"She... left. I'll explain later."

"So Jino... Why aren't you and Somin dating yet?", asked Sohyun abruptly.

I glared at Sohyun.

"You're really testing my patience.", I said.
""Why are you getting defensive? It was only a question.", said Sohyun acting innocent. "I'm pretty sure Jungkook has the same question."

"Whatever relationship we have is between us.", said Jino.

Jungkook scoffed.

"You're being pretty secretive for someone who says they're just friends.", said Jungkook.
"That's none of your business,", said Jino.
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me."

Jungkook and Jino suddenly stood up with clenched fists.

"I really wanna punch you right now.", said Jungkook.
"Try me and see if I'll react.", said Jino.

I pulled Jino back and Sohyun did the same with Jungkook.

"Jungkook stop.", said Sohyun. "You're causing a scene."
"I don't care.", he said shaking Sohyun off. "This boy really makes me mad."

"Well I feel the same way. At least I don't go around breaking hearts.", said Jino.
"What did you just say?", asked Jungkook grabbing Jino's collar.

I grabbed onto Jungkook's wrist and stared at him with a pleading look.

"Jungkook please. Not now.", I said.

Jungkook loosened his grip on Jino's collar and sighed. He turned his head and walked to the exit.

"Jungkook! Wait up!", yelled Sohyun following him after.

Jino sat down and put his head on the table.

"I'm sorry Somin. I egged him on and now you probably feel uncomfortable.", he said.

Although I did feel upset and uncomfortable, I wasn't mad at Jino for what he did. Deep down I hoped that would change Jungkook's decisions but I set myself up for disappointment. The week passed and Jungkook and I hadn't spoken at all. We haven't even seen each other.

The weekend for the masquerade ball came and soon it was the day of the event. I was in a black dress that Mina picked out for me and even had my makeup done by her. I stayed in the front of the hall collecting tickets from students throughout the night.

In the distance I could see Sohyun along with Jungkook by her side. She was wearing a short red dress that was inappropriate to even war at the dance but I was too dejected to say anything. Jungkook looked amazing in his suit and hair styled up.

I wish it was me who came with him.

"You actually look decent for once.", said Sohyun handing me her ticket. "Still not as good as me though."
