my mother called.

"lisa, honey... stop hiding" she said trying her best to sound sweet.

"they're here, honey" my mother said.

i moved farther into the closet. risking the chance of my mother finding me. i didn't want her to find me.

"lisa~ come out!" her voice sounded like it was close. too close.

suddenly, my eyes were filled with the light of outside the closet. "there you are.." she said loud enough for the people downstairs to hear.

i pulled away; not wanting for her to touch me. "you're gonna be in big trouble" she whispered.

but how, how could i be in big trouble if i was going to be taken away.

             but then it hit me.

my mother, she was coming back.
