Curse Ardyn and all his cheap little tricks. If it wasn't for him, Prompto would still be here... and Noct wouldn't go around feeling so guilty and beating himself up. Neither would I. I know full well that anybody would say that it wasn't our fault, and I know it isn't, but I just can't help but hate myself for being too weak against the Chancellor's schemes. But nevertheless, I also know that Prompto is out there and he's trying to come back to us. And I'm determined to help him come back even if it's the last thing I do... literally.

Beep! Beep!

Beep! Beep!

"Hello?"

"This is... (y/n), right?"

"Aranea...?"

"Surprised? Huh, I guess I should have expected that."

"Why are you calling me? Or better yet, how did you get my number in the first place?"

"That's for me to know and you to never find out. Now, I have some information that might interest you."

"Such as?"

"The whereabouts of a certain blonde friend of yours."

"Y-You mean Prompto?!"

"Checkmate."

"Where is he?"

"Sadly, I can't exactly pin-point him out for you, but I could give you some potential areas."

"Please. Tell me."

"Heh. Figured you'd say something like that."

Aranea said I'd need something that would 'suit the weather', so I'm guessing it's somewhere cold. I bought a moderate amount of winter gear and a suitcase to put them in before I got to the location the woman gave me.

"Are you sure you need to do this?" Gladiolus asks behind me as I finish stuffing my belongings into the case and zip it closed.

"Yes. I have to find him. You guys can go to the Capitol without me," I reply as I pat my hands clean and face the man. He has a worried, serious expression on his face. He's leaning against the wall on his side with his bulky arms crossed. He's clearly not okay with me going through with this.

"It's dangerous what you're doing, (y/n). Very dangerous," he states as he stands up straight and makes his way over to me.

"I know that. But, we can't just leave him. We all know he's alive somewhere," I clarify. Gladio is now mere inches from me, utterly dwarfing me with his physique and stature.

"I know," he says softly, placing his large hand on my shoulder, "But, the rest of us don't want another one of this pack lost." I look down and put on the tiniest smile.

"I understand."

Beep! Beep!

I take out my phone from my pocket and shut off the tone. It's time I have to leave.

"I know I just asked and you're sick of hearing it, but I need to confirm it this one last time; Are you sure you want to do this?" Gladio asks. I can feel his grip tightening a little. I look up and stare into his amber eyes. I can see the fear in them, even if it's subtle. I place my hand on his partly exposed chest reassuringly.

"I'm sure."

I walk out of the hotel with Noctis, Gladio, and, Ignis behind me. I give my case to the taxi driver, who in turn puts it in the trunk as I say my farewell.
