It's almost sundown and I have yet to find the facilities that Aranea was talking about. Just like at the dock, I'm having second thoughts on whether to believe her. But, what can I do? I'm here now, in a snow-packed field with absolutely no signs of life within miles. I've been walking for hours now. My legs are arching and becoming dumb. It feels as though all my gear is my own skin. My jacket, mitts, hood, and ski-pants are doing nothing to protect me from the cold. Even my jaw is sore from all the non-stop chattering. I don't know how much longer I can keep going. If I give up, I may as well die and become a human ice cube, waiting for a trooper to snatch me up and take me to a lab to become something the Empire could use. Sounds just like something out of a superhero story, but it could happen.

Then, just to my luck, I can see the faintest outline of a building in the distance. My heart starts to thump a few beats faster. Prompto could be in there... The adrenaline in my system starts to kick in and I find that my body isn't as sore anymore and I have the sudden urge to run. However, I keep walking and fighting my way through the tedious wind blowing in my face. I want to save my energy. Who knows what could be the those facilities...

I try and study the building in front of me, but it's fruitless with the snow gushing in front of it at 1000 miles per hour. I cautiously walk towards the entrance and grab hold of the large handle and to my shock, it's actually open when I pull it. After a small struggle, I manage to step foot into a seemingly abandoned military-style base. I'm in a narrow hallway that leads to others on both sides. As I look to my left, and also to my luck, I happen to find a container full of pistols and ammo. As I didn't bring any weapons, I decide to snag some for the road. Grabbing a few guns and a fair amount of bullets, I stuff them in my backpack and fill one up. Now that I'm armed, I feel a lot more safer and confident going through this base.

Here goes nothing...

After a few minutes of searching the facility, I come across nothing. The whole thing seems to be completely abandoned... and quiet. It's starting to give me the creeps...

But then... I see something. As I turn another corner, I see a man. Actually... it's not a man. It's a trooper. It has bullets decorated all over its body. Judging by the looks of it, the damage was done pretty recently. This might mean that I'm not alone. I grip the gun tighter as I cautiously and slowly move around the seemingly dead trooper, watching it very carefully to make sure it doesn't move. As soon as I'm on the other side of it, I conclude that it really is toast and put my guard down. And as I turn to face in front of me and go on my way, it's cold metal hand grabs hold of my ankle.

"AAHH!!" I scream as I'm obviously startled by the suddenness of the attack. The thing looks up at me and nearly paralyses me with those freaky glowing red eyes. It makes an effort with it's other hand to crawl closer to me, but I shoot it a couple of times in the head. That's what seems to finish it off as it stops and a shutting down-type sound comes from it as the red glow in its eyes fades until they're completely black. Once the sound stops, the thing drops to the floor and lets go of my ankle. Only then do I realize that my heart is hammering and my breath is fast and short.

"Holy crap..." I breathe as I put my hand to my chest to calm down the throbbing organ inside. With a big breath, I turn back around and stare at the large door at the end of the hall. Even from the distance, I can see that it's slightly ajar. I click the gun in my hand and carefully walk towards the vault. As soon as I'm near it, I can hear the sounds of static and electrical sparks. I stealthily glance over the corner. It looks like some kind of storage room with massive tubes all lined up in columns. Not only that, but the whole room is practically destroyed with a gigantic hole in the ceiling, the source of the sounds.
