His simple words replayed in my mind over and over again.

"Call me if it happens again."

I sat on the cold bathroom floor, trembling and bawling my eyes out. My face burned, and I was flushed. Probably from all my crying and getting hit in the face didn't help.

"Call me if it happens again."

My finger hovered over his number for a long time, I didn't want to bother him. This is normal for me, I can manage another night.

"(Y/N), open the damn door!" Eric yelled as he pounded on the bathroom door.

The loud noise was unexpected and my finger slipped on the call button.

"Hello?" a crisp voice spoke.

"Ethan," I managed to croak out.

"(Y/N)! What's going on? Are you okay?" he asked, worry filling his voice.

"Come out!" Eric yelled, automatically answering Ethan's questions.

"I need you to make it out of the house in ten minutes okay?"

I hung up the phone and took a deep breath.

He's coming for me. Ten minutes.

The pounding got louder and so did Eric.

"Leave me alone!" I screamed.

"Fine, but you have to come out eventually! You're mine then." he huffed and walked away.

Nine minutes.

I focused on breathing. My chest was tight and strained from stress. It felt like vines were wrapped around me, getting tighter as I breathed.

Eight minutes.

"I'm anxious," I spoke softly.

"And that's okay. I can't change what just happened. It happened and it won't stay with me."

Seven minutes.

I watched as the vines around me faded a little bit at my words. I closed my eyes tighter and focused harder.

"I'm anxious and that's okay."

Breathing became easier, the vines loosening.

Five minutes.

Right when I felt like my anxiety attack was over, I heard a crash from another room. I felt even worse than before and clung to the wall behind me.

Four minutes.

Tears streamed once again and I was back where I started.

Ethan, please hurry up, please.

I started to stand up and caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. Messy hair, runny mascara, and puffy eyes. None of it mattered, the only thing on my mind was getting away, that was the main priority.

Two minutes.

I clutched my phone in one hand and the bathroom doorknob in the other. I took deep breaths and listened carefully.

Nothing.

One minute.

I unlocked the door and bolted to the front door. I didn't take the time to look where Eric was, I just focused on the door and getting away.

"Where do you think you're going?" Eric yelled, running after me.

"Somewhere I'm actually safe!"

I unlocked the front door and ran outside to see Ethan's car. I sprinted towards him and got into the car. Ethan had already hit the gas and we were a step closer to being away from Eric. In the rear view mirror, I saw him flip us off. Flustered, I began to cry again. The car stopped and Ethan had already placed his hand on my shoulder, the warmth from his hand comforted me.

"You're safe from now on, I promise."
