(Y/N)'s point of view
I woke up to Ethan's fingers intertwined with mine. He was curled up in a half ball peacefully asleep. I slowly loosen my fingers from his grip and head toward the kitchen. I make some coffee for both me and Ethan as he comes through the kitchen.

"Good morning (Y/N)," he mumbled looking at the floor.

"Morning," I chirped handing him his coffee cup. When I finally got a good look at his face I saw that he was flushed and looked tired.

"What's wrong?"

"I-I just didn't sleep well," he slumped onto a chair at the table.

"Oh, I'm sorry."

"It's okay,"

"Thank you for being there for me last night," I smile hoping to see Ethan's happy smile.

"I'm glad I was, that was some dream you had." Ethan's face stayed still with very little emotion. Something was really eating at him but I couldn't tell what.

"I'm sorry, it really was." I apologized.

"It's not your fault."

"Still-"

"I'm going to shower. I have to record a little today but we can hang out later if you want." Ethan interrupted me and got up from the table to leave.

I was alone for a few hours. The only other person I would want to hang out with was Amy so I texted her.

Me: heyyy Amy, any way we can hang for a bit?

Amy: I'm a little sick but never too sick to go to the farmers market!

Me: Never been lol.

Amy: That's about to change!

"(Y/N) could you get me some of those berries please?" Amy said pointing to a bundle of blackberries.

"Sure!" I said handing them to her.

"Thank you,"

"Hey Amy, has Ethan ever been distant or seem off around you before?" I questioned thinking back to this morning.

"No, why?"

"He was just not himself this morning and I feel like it's my fault because.." I trailed off.

"Because..?"

"I had a dream with this evil version of him and I was rude when I woke up... then I just declined his offer to be kind and hug me till I fell asleep."

"I wasn't expecting to hear that.." Amy said looking another way.

"Did I do something wrong?" I grabbed her arm begging for an answer.

"He's probably just upset you wouldn't show some more affection that's all." she gave a half hearted smile.

"I feel bad," I sighed.

"Let's get you home to him and if he isn't in a better mood talk about it."

"We make it sound like we're a couple," I sighed following Amy to the car.

"Hey Ethan I'm back!" I called walking through the front door.

"Hey," he smiled walking to the couch.

"How are you?" I wanted to see if he was actually alright.

"Good as always!" He cheered.

He's okay I think. Maybe it was just awkward for him this morning that's all. Right?

"Hello?" Ethan asked waving his hand on front of me. I looked at him and tilted my head a little.

"I said do you want to go look at some dogs with me? I know I can't get one. I just want to go see some puppers and dream." He whined the last part like a little kid.

"Of course," I patted his back and followed him out the door.

**time skip**
"(Y/N) just look at him! He's perfect!" Ethan breathed out in awe at one of the older dogs.

"His name is Diego," I said looking at the dogs clipboard.

"He's so cute and sweet. I want him sooo bad, (Y/N) please!" He begged.

"Ethan you know you won't be home to take care of him," I sat beside him and started to pet Diego.

"You could take care of him when I'm not home!" Ethan jumped with excitement at the thought.

"I thought me living with you was temporary," I breathed looking up at Ethan.

"I wouldn't mind you staying, we can be roommates." I looked down at the floor and placed my hands in my lap. Living alone I would be scared out of my mind. Best friends live together, that's normal.

"Best friends do live together all the time." I smiled.

"So.. yes?" Ethan was grinning from ear to ear now.

"The apartment will fit all of us?"

"We can make it work,"

"And here's the paper work for Diego," the lady at the front desk gave me and Ethan the paper to read through.

"You guys are such a cute couple!" she chirped.

"Oh.." Ethan began. I vigorously shook my head at her and she got the message.

"Say, do you know anyone who needs a job? We are in need of some employees here." the lady handed me another paper.

"Me actually,"

"Well just think about it and give me a call." She smiled. Me and Ethan came out of the animal shelter with Diego dragging us home.

"Are you going to take that job (Y/N)?" Ethan asked hesitantly.

"Maybe, I can be around cute animals all day!"

"Well Mark was thinking about letting you be an editor for him.."

"Wait.. really?" I stopped walking to process what I just heard.

"He would pay you. But the choice is up to you." Ethan turned to me.

"Do I have time to think about it?"

"Of course. Let's go home." He grabbed my hand and we went back to his house.

Diego got settled in pretty quickly. We made a makeshift bed for him in the corner and he was soon fast asleep. This dog will be good for both me and Ethan.

"I call the couch to be closer to the dog!" I called and hoped on the couch with a blanket.

"Okay okay," Ethan came and gave me a tight hug.

"Goodnight."
