I wake up to hear someone coughing loudly and the sound of glass shattering. I jolt up and my mind spins in multiple directions. Is Eric drunk again? You have to check or he will be pissed. Did I over sleep? Oh no. Please. But, as my eyes focus more on my surroundings I see that I'm in Ethan's room. I relax, but then I wonder why I heard glass shatter. I spring up from his Ethan's bed and run into the kitchen to see Ethan with a blanket around his shoulders, and broken glass at his feet, shivering.
"What happened? Are you okay?" I frantically run to him trying to avoid the glass.
"I-I'm fine, (Y/N), I think I have a cold and the glass just slipped from my hand that's all," Ethan's voice was weak and congested.
"Come here," I grab his hand and lead him to the couch and sit him down. I walk back to the kitchen to clean up the glass.
"(Y/N)! I can clean it!" the blue haired boy tried to yell but his voice cracked half way through. I peep my head over the counter and stare at him over at the couch.
"What the hell is wrong with you? You're sick, I'm taking care of you." I pick up the last of the glass and dispose of it.
"I have to record, I don't even have videos prepared for today," Ethan whined.
"I wish you wouldn't, Ethan." I sat down beside him and sighed, I looked at him, up and down, taking in his appearance. His nose was tinted with a shade of pink, his lips were swollen, his blue hair messy and he clearly needed a haircut. I glanced down before looking back at him.
"My community is everything to me. I love them all so much, and they are expecting videos. I can't let them down. I've already been distant with them lately and I haven't had time and I just have to record, please." Even though Ethan's voice was weak, he still managed to talk passionately and happily about the cranky crew.
"Can you at least record a vlog? When you're done, I can edit for you so you can rest?" I look up at Ethan with hopeful eyes. I just wanted him to feel better.
"Okay, (Y/N)" Ethan got up and carried his blanket with him to record. His words stuck with me though. I've already been distant with them lately. He's been helping me so much that it's been taking away from helping thousands of others. Why am I so selfish? I need to definitely help Ethan feel better, and make sure he records more. I head off towards the kitchen to make the sick boy some soup.
**time skip**
"The soup tastes wonderful," Ethan said through slurps.
"Manners, young man," I teased at him softly.
"Right. Sorry, mom!" Ethan picked up the bowl and put his pinkies out as he drank it.
"You're so silly," I laughed and rubbed his shoulder to comfort him.
"Thank you for taking care of me," he looked down at the kitchen floor, face flushed with red.
"Do you have a temperature?" I felt his forehead and he felt warm. I went to the cabinet and found him some medicine.
"Here you go," I handed him the thick liquid that you would gag at when you were a kid.
"I messaged Kathryn and she's gonna edit my video. I just wanted you to spend time with me." Ethan's happy smile crossed his face as he looked up at me.
"I'd like that," I smiled and grabbed Ethan's hand to go into the living room.
"Can we just relax and talk?" Ethan asked slumping on the couch and cuddling his blanket from earlier. I nodded my head and sat next to him. Even though he was sick, Ethan was still playful. He coughed all over me saying it was an accident but we both knew it wasn't.
"You're gonna get me sick!" I yelled and jumped off the couch to sit on the floor.
"So I can take care of you," he giggled at his own plan.
"No way! You've done enough for me." I leaned forward so my full attention was on Ethan.
"I will always want to help you. I've said it before and I will keep saying it." Ethan had a coughing fit after he finished but it didn't change the mood one bit.
"We're just really good at helping each other." I smiled. Soon enough I was lost in my thoughts, thinking about how happy I finally am without Eric.
"(Y/N)? Can you please?" Ethan was hovering over me now.
"Huh? What do you want?" I asked looking up at the sick boy.
"A hug," He opened his arms and picked me up off of the floor. He gave me a tight embrace and I felt safe. We released each other but intertwined fingers. We both sat back on the couch holding hands. It wasn't anything romantic or even close to being sexual. It was just best friends holding hands, and it just so happened we were a boy and a girl. We ended up talking until midnight and both decided we should sleep. I got the couch and forced Ethan to take the bed finally. I hope he felt better soon.
**the next morning**
"Morning sleepy head," I heard Ethan's voice fill my ears as I sat myself up. Ethan greeted me with a cup of coffee. I felt awful, and my throat was sore.
"E-Eth-a-n," I cooked out. He hummed as he sat next to me, concern on his face. "I g-guess you got me s-sick," I coughed in between words.
"I guess my plan worked after all." He smirked but I could tell he was still slightly under the weather.
"I guess w-we can have a few more sick days t-together." I sipped the warm coffee and relaxed.
"We both deserve time to relax for a while,"
