Day 1 - Friendship

Hajime Hinata sat on the cliff side which stood over the beach, staring at the ocean's horizon with weary eyes as he yawned. "Hajime, you okay there?" Hajime looked to his left to see Nagito Komaeda, his friend who he had interest in, nodding as Nagito sat next to him with a smile. Hajime always wondered how Nagito was able to smile, making the most of the situation of being trapped on an island for a school year. But he learned to adapt, relaxing along with everyone else on the tropical resort of Jabberwock Island.
Hajime yawned again, rubbing his eyes and nearly falling asleep, allowing the warmth of the setting sunlight to overtake him and the soft winds to calm him from his thoughts. Nagito saw this and didn't interrupt, only placing his hands into his green jacket's pockets and watching the sun set. Nagito thought to himself, I really must be the Ultimate Lucky Student, being able to sit next to Hajime like this. He smiled and watched as Hajime allowed his body to fall backward and hit the grass, not caring about the pebbles that hit his head on impact.
Hajime was tired today, running around the island with Akane Owari and Nekomaru Nidai, the two athletes among his friends. He allowed himself to drift to sleep, and Nagito smiled as he pulled Hajime farther from the cliff in case he were to struggle in his slumber, removing his jacket and putting it into Hajime as a makeshift blanket. Nagito considered himself to be the luckiest guy in the world, not only to be almost everyone on the island's friend, but to be so close to Hajime, who he had felt interested in without noticing Hajime's return of this emotion.
Of course, Usami, the magical rabbit girl, who was their teacher and chaperone for the "heart throbbing" school trip, showed up and whispered to Nagito, "Hajime shouldn't be asleep here! It's dangerous! Please take him to his cottage, since you're his best friend and everything. I would do it myself, but he's too heavy for me." She then disappeared after that, leaving Nagito to sigh and smile, picking up Hajime'a unconscious body and struggling to carry him to the cabin, nearly dropping his own jacket in the process. After making it to the cottage, Nagito let out a sigh of relief and went inside, placing Hajime on the bed and taking a moment to lean on the bed to rest, his body mere inches away from Hajime's. He unintentionally breathed out warm air onto Hajime, disturbing his sleep and causing him to wake up to Nagito's face hovering above his, to which Hajime blushed deeply and gasped in confusion, embarrassment, slight excitement, and a little frustration and anger.
"H-Hajime, you're awake! Good!" Nagito grinned his carefree smile, closing his eyes before he realized what his appearance seemed like. Then his eyes snapped open and he quickly jumped away, putting his hands behind his back and blushing while apologizing profusely. "I'm so sorry Hajime! It's not what it looks like! Usami asked
Me to return you to your cottage! I'm so sorry!"
"N-Nagito! I..." He sighed and smiled a little bit, still blushing a slight amount. "It's fine. I get it. I feel asleep on the cliff, didn't I?" he asked. Nagito nodded. "Who helped carry me?" Hajime continued.
Nagito answered, "Just me."
Hajime replied, "Oh. Okay... Wait, just you?!" Nagito nodded in response with a slight chuckle. Hajime blushed and covered his face with what he thought was his blanket to hide it. When he realized it felt off, he pulled it away to realize it was Nagito's jacket. Panicking, he blushed more and threw it at Nagito, who caught it and put it back on, looking concerned. "A-Are you sick, Hajime? Your face is red!" He was worried, and told Hajime to wait for a second, going to get Mikan Tsumiki, the Ultimate Nurse.
Still blushing, Hajime sighed. "Crap!" he exclaimed, taking his shoes off and lying in bed, pulling the covers onto him and waiting for Nagito's return. When Mikan showed up instead, with a serious and courageous look on her face, closing the door behind her and placing a box full of universal sickness medicines, medical tools, and wellness equipment. "Hajime, Nagito told me you looked sick. So I'm going to take a look at you," she explained in a professional tone. Hajime raised an eyebrow to this sudden confidence Mikan was showing, which must have broken her, since she shivered and apologized, "I-I'm sorry! I just want to help you if you're sick!"
Hajime nodded and put on a fake smile, "Sorry. I guess you wanted to look strong. But I swear I'm perfectly fine. I was just embarrassed because Nagito had his jacket on me and I accidentally put my face in it. That's all, I swear!"
Mikan nodded and sighed in relief, smiling the small and relaxing way she did when she knew everything was okay. "Okay! If you ever need me, I'll always be here to help!" She practically skipped out of the room after re-acquiring her equipment, meaning her trip was for nothing. But Hajime sighed happily, at least knowing she was okay with being dragged into his front door.
Hajime sat up and turned his head. Speaking of the front door... he thought to himself, seeing Nagito with his arms folded, smiling in the doorway. He then spoke, "I should apologize for calling Mikan. I guess in our little situation it would be appropriate to be embarrassed and have a red face."
"It's cool," Hajime replied, "But it's almost night time. You should get back to your room soon. Okay?"
Nagito nodded, but then shook his head. "Hey, I know it may sound like I'm asking you out on a date right now, but I got one of these." He reached into his pants pocket and pulled out a small card. Hajime looked at it and smiled. "You got a trip ticket? Sure, I'll go somewhere with you. I mean, you are my best friend. No reason to decline." To this, Nagito flashed his carefree smile once again, closing his eyes and tilting his head like a small puppy getting a treat. "Thanks, Hajime! And good night, I guess. Sleep well."
After they exchanged goodbyes, Nagito went to his cottage and not too long after, Usami's announcement for night time came on, everyone returning to their cottages to sleep for the rest of the night.
