Nagito and Hajime had been awake for hours since the morning announcement. All morning, they spent their time together in the restaurant, having breakfast and talking to each other. The two were now nearly inseparable. If someone needed only one of them to do something, then so be it. But the thought of being away from each other for too long hurt the both of them. They had been truly in love, now. No words could describe the bond between them. To even begin to formulate the words would do no justice to their emotions, to their undeniable love. It was to the point where they no longer cared if people knew of their intimacy. Nobody had been around to witness it, but the two boys started to kiss again. Byakuya and Akane had even left the restaurant by then, and so they were free to do as much as they want.
Or so, they thought...
Usami appeared out of nowhere, crossing her arms and saying "Hmph" loudly. When the boys heard this, they stopped and blushed, apologizing.
"I get that you must really be in love love! But I ask you that the only places you can do things like this are in the privacy of your cottages or in any secluded romantic place. Like the beach at night time or the amusement park at noon." When the pair nodded at the magical rabbit, she continued, "And if you are to do anything...Dirty-" she said as she put we hands over her head in slight shame. "That is not permitted on this school field trip, unless it is done in the direct privacy of your cottages! And make sure the door is locked so no one can barge in! Ah, I'm talking to my students about this!" She looked down as her face seems to gray and her body seemed to turn slightly blue.
Nagito laughed a bit through a now deep shade of red on his usually pale face. You don't have to worry, Miss Usami!" he said, stepping up to their teacher and petting the top of her head. "We know you're just concerned about privacy and such. You can trust Hajime and me. Honest!"
Hajime jumped in, "Yeah. Besides, we aren't exactly hormone-crazed, or anything, like TeruTeru." This made Usami laugh and brighten up again.
"Yay! My students are warming up to me as their teacher! You two remember what I said, and remember! Always be filled with friendship and hope! Love love!" As she said those last iconic words, she disappeared as usual, leaving the two boys in the restaurant.
Nagito spoke first. Well, that was certainly...Interesting."
Hajime replied, "You know? I never acknowledged it before. But whenever you started to pet her, I remembered that our teacher is a stuffed rabbit. It's actually damn adorable. I guess I was still a little pressured by being put on this island for our first year of Hope's Peak Academy."
Nagito agreed with a nod, and he asked, "So, what now? I don't have any trip tickets. But Jabberwock Park and the beach are free. Not to mention, there's so much to do without visiting the island's main attractions."
Hajime answered, "Hmm. I'm not sure. I feel really energized though."
Nagito smiled and said, "I do too, actually. Like, some kind of hyper energy. We should burn it off."
Hajime snapped his fibers when an idea came to his mind. "We could burn this energy off and get some trip tickets if we do a little work for Usami."
Nagito chuckled, "You always figure something out, Hajime. That's one of the things I've always loved about you. Let's go, then!"

It was now mid-afternoon. The pair spent a few hours working for Usami and each earned three trip tickets, meaning six in total. They worked harder than ever before, and so when they were done, they spent about an hour on the beach, alone. The time was 3:00PM and they didn't know what to do with the rest of their day. Then they came up with an agreement. Nagito was going to finish collecting all of the hope fragments today, and Hajime would use a trip ticket to get closer to someone on the island. The only problem with that was that Hajime didn't know who to take out on a "date".
He decided, Whoever I see first, I'll hang out with. Going by that logic, he sighed with relief as he heard footsteps come from his right, his body turning toward them. He then smiled, not talking to this person in a while. "Kazuichi Soda, the Ultimate Mechanic! I haven't seen you in a couple weeks."
Kazuichi turned around when he heard Hajime's voice, and he pumped his fists in front of him excitedly, his sharp teeth forming a shark-like smile. "HAJIMEEEEEEEEEE!" he yelled. "He charged toward Hajime and the two conversed like old shipmates, or veterans who haven't seen each other since a war decades ago. "Where've you been, Kazuichi?" Hajime asked, since he hadn't even seen Kazuichi at the party last night.
Kazuichi replied, "Well, last night I was sick and for a few days that's also been the case. Then, before that, for about a week I wasn't really social. I stayed in my cottage and didn't come out. But Miss Sonia came by and encouraged me to at least go out for food sometimes." His eyes sparkled when he spoke of Sonia Nevermind, the Ultimate Princess. Kazuichi had a particular interest in Sonia which scared most of the students. But Hajime shrugged his concern of Kazuichi's obsession away and asked him, "Hey, Kazuichi. I have a trip ticket. You wanna go to the military base and see what we can't scrap and build?"
Kazuichi eagerly agreed, "Oh hell yeah! I've been dying to go there, and with you it'll be even better!" Hajime chuckled at his words, and they went off to the military base, and spent their time searching for oil and trying to ride the tanks, discussing many things. Hajime was aching to tell someone about him and Nagito, but he needed someone to trust. I don't know why, but I need to tell someone. If I don't, it would feel like I'm hiding something important...Would Nagito mind...? I don't know...
Kazuichi could hear Hajime's thoughts. "Hey, Hajime? Do you have something to say? You can tell me anything, you know."
Hajime's mind was snapped back into reality after hearing that. "Y-You can hear others' thoughts too, huh? Interesting. But yes, there's something I need to get off of my chest."
And so he explained his situation, not leaving out anything. Kazuichi surprisingly smiled and didn't seem freaked out at all. "You and Nagito, huh? That's pretty cool! And totally unexpected!" Hajime was blushing and confused, which Kazuichi read based on Hajime's expression. And so he began to explain, "Don't get me wrong, I am really shocked. But it wouldn't be right to look disapproving or anything. There's nothing wrong with two guys being together. And you're both my friends. So I know that being in any way condescending wouldn't make sense. Besides, I'm actually really happy for you two. It's awesome that some people are getting together on this island!" Hajime thanked Kazuichi for his support and surprising maturity, and he two departed after a long-lasting goodbye.

As Hajime was walking back to the hotel to see if he could talk to someone a little bit longer before nighttime, he heard a beep in his pocket. "Huh?" he asked, reaching in and pulling out his student e~handbook. He gasped when he saw that it was the pet that came with the handbook. "I forgot about this!" He get bad as he opened it and saw the cute little bunny creature inside dead with a full despair meter. He sighed, watching the ghost fly away and a new egg appear. "This time, I'll treat it right. I'll give it presents and even walk around to make it grow. Besides, I could use the exercise." He then continued his walk to the hotel, coming across Chiaki Nanami along the way. "Chiaki? Where are you going?" he asked. She was looking at her handbook and walking mindlessly, which seemed odd. Hajime couldn't help but peer over her shoulder when he crosses her path, and saw that she, too, was trying to raise up her pet. He had seen that she raised the Hope Meter all the way and was trying to fully raise an Usami pet.
"Oh. I haven't gotten that one yet," he said out loud by accident. Chiaki heard this time and raised her head.
"Hajime?" She looked directly at him, not knowing that his face would be right there...
And accidentally made their lips meet. Hajime didn't know what was going on, and barely moved. Chiaki didn't realize her mistake, and also didn't budge. It was a full few seconds when they both jumped back, and their eyes shifted to the figure which was observing the two at the wrong moment...
"Nagito!" Hajime yelled, "It isn't what it looks like!" But it was too late. Nagito's grayed face walked past the two of them with no emotion. His face remained calm and unmoving. He went to the gates of the hotel and went in, still emotionless, and then he went to his cottage, where he locked the door, sealed off all of his windows, and cried.
Meanwhile, Hajime and Chiaki didn't know what to do. They both apologized, and Chiaki walked off, because she didn't know the situation exactly. Hajime didn't move from that point on. He stood there, frozen in place. Not until he could grasp the full concept of the situation. Then he realized what he must do. He ran in tears to Nagito's cottage, knocking on the door. "Nagito! Please open up! I swear it wasn't what it looked like!" There wasn't an answer from
The cottage, and Hajime cried harder, not knowing that Nagito was also crying. Hajime felt guilty, and Nagito felt betrayed. "Nagito, I'm sorry. It wasn't what it looked like, but I'm sorry. Sorry for not being able to explain. You wouldn't believe me. I love you and only you..." He then walked away and back to his cottage, thinking Nagito wasn't listening. But Nagito was listening to every word, and was looking everywhere in his heart to believe and forgive.
But he wanted to be sure. He wanted to know if Hajime was honest. He believed every word Hajime said. He really did. But he wanted to be certain. Trust and believing we're different to Nagito. He loved Hajime but didn't want to be hurt. So he'll act like he didn't believe him. He wanted to see that if he didn't act like the past few days didn't happen, if Hajime would go to Chiaki or anyone else. Then he would get his answer. He was heartbroken, but not torn. He'd let fate decide if he would become torn.

Hajime was in his cottage, wrapped in his blanket on the floor, soaked with tears. He didn't want Nagito to think he was a no-good, cheating prick. "This is Chiaki's fault..." he thought, then immediately took it back. "No...It's mine. I let this happen. I've...Got to get sleep. And then I've got to make it up to Nagito. I'm going to try. I love you, Nagito...And only you." And so Hajime went to sleep, hoping that his guilt would be at least a little relieved.
Nagito went to sleep as well, trying not
To let his tears get the best of him.
It wasn't even time for announcements yet, but the two boys both didn't care. They were both too hurt and too tired to care. The night had passed with pained hearts of the boys visible by only one.

Usami watched the situation unfold and tutted. "I hope this will be resolved soon. This is bad. Maybe she can fix it. She is involved, after all." She played the nighttime announcement, and then she herself went to sleep. No matter how much goes on in this island, nothing changes. Nobody disturbs the tranquility of the island, no matter how much hope there is. No matter how much despair.
