The Wise One

The wise one

Growing up, life happened for me

Just like anyone, as harsh it could be

I met my significant other but

There had to be one and that hurts.

I met him and that was the best part

Until life told me ‘it's just a start’

He became my wise one and life heard

It said it wanted someone with word.

Gave up dreams as reality was better

Life just smirked, ‘wait till you shatter’

‘I'll snatch everything you deserve

Including that memories you preserved’

It did just as it had threatened

My past was taken and guillotined.

The worst was yet to come, be ready

Woke up in hospital with memories of nobody

Worst was not the loss of it

But the funeral I then attended

With a blank mind and heavy heart

I was yet again torn apart.

They told me he was my wise one

He was the one who attended my burns

The plans we made were now among ruins

He said, ‘Real Bravery is to smile in Doom’

Once again in my face the life cackled

‘I told you love, I can't get tackled

I wanted a man with words, a shame

It's your man with whom I played game

Then people told me stories of the battles I fought

Life couldn't do anything, just sat and watch

It thought the memories will act as salt

Wounds were healed and I got the taste long forgot.

I tasted the terrible hollowness of grief

The most bitter taste of loss of belief

I remembered his words even when we're gone

‘Don't fall behind because life goes on.’
